JAGJIT SINGH SING'S NAZEER BANARASI LIVE IN KENYA AT A PRIVATE MEHFIL IN 1978
Nazir Banarasi is one of the popular names both in literary and popular circles. He was born on 25 Nov, 1909, in Banares. His father was a well-known practitioner of Unani medicine in Benares. Nazir also joined his father’s profession.
Nazir picked the material for his poetry from the conditions around him which made him acutely relevant to his readers. His poetry is thus a living record of contemporary scenario with respect to politics and society. He also wrote long poems on the prominent literary, social, and political personalities of his time. His publications include Gang-o-Jaman, Rashtra ki Amaanat Rashtra ke Hawaaley, Jawahar se Lal Tak, Ghulami se Aazaadi Tak, and Kitab-e-Ghazal.
He died on 23 March, 1996 in Benares.

I have heard many versions of this endearing ghazal, but this one seems to be the best, as it has been sung by Jagjitji in a private Mehfil, where he instills some magic potion in his gaayiki, to lend a different flavor to the same lyrics of the ghazal.. Very heart touching lyrics, touch the inner core of our heart....Ye inayaten gazab ki, ye balaa ki meharbaani....Meri khairiyat bhi poochi, kisi aur kee zubaani... And the ending lines of this poetry are very soul stirring.!...Meri bezubaan aankhon se giray hain chand katre..Wo samajh sake to aansu, na samajh sake to paani ... Very gripping and absorbing shaayari, sung with such passion and feelings by Jagjitji, in his soft and soothing voice, touching our heart strings.!.. Thankful to you, Soni ji, for sharing and giving us the pleasure of listening to such beautiful piece of poetry, music and rendition....Stay blessed always.!...👌👌 👍 🙏
