That flywheel will come off on my 144 I had to go buy some m7 bolts about 2 inches long and used a 3 bolt puller, a chip will work on there that’s what’s on mine, but had to remove the points box and condenser, glad to see someone working on these saws just wish I didn’t have to learn on my own a few months ago lol cheers

Same design as a 120S. Bosch flywheel had Bosch ignition under it. SEM flywheel had SEM ignition. I was able to get Sem from Chainsawr used.Heard some used the Nova kit for more reliability. Old Husqvarna and Stihl saws used the same ignition. If you go used just make sure your ignition matches the flywheel. The fan should mount on either. Back up the crank with a nut. They are delicate.

There is a way to replace the capacitor on the SEM module with a chip, also.

Hey Tinman, i built a tool for Dolmars. Took a 10mm Steelplate and drilled 3 Holes in it, which fit to the screws in the Flywheel. Then i took 12.9 strengh M5 screws i think they were and tightened them . So the Plate pushes on the Crank. Hit the Plate with a Steelhammer and the Wheel comes off. Did that on my 120 , 133 super and 143 to replace Crankseals. Worked fine.Flyeheelnut gets 30Nm . Good Luck 👍,

Man I like those ole Sachs Dolmars. The 153 is a “holy grail saw” right behind the SD166. That saw looks pretty amazing. Paint and decals look great, piston looks great, I’ve heard they had an ignition issue which in this case prolly preserved it by not being used. Do the ignition chip thing and I bet it will fun like a champ. I hope you get it running without having to replace crank seals and such. Good luck. Oh yeah, to all the Canadian Truckers, “Keep on Trucking”. Your protest is Nobel and you should be “allowed to chose” God bless!
@230e42 жыл бұрын
I am glad you stopped! Heating up the flywheel too much is like an oven and if the ignition wasn't bad it will be if heated too much. Same goes for the crank seal. The starter cup is definitely not made to be pulled against. I believe the Stihl 045/056 puller will work on this saw, part # 1107-890-4500 I paid $30.49 for mine from Stihl. (If you would like the measurements off that tool I can email them to you) Or fab a similar tool. Stihl even sells an end cap that goes onto the crank to help protect it from the puller on some saws. Slow and steady with the proper tools wins the race, like most things in life.

I’m a huge fan of Dolmars in general so it’s really cool to see someone giving them some love (and flame grilling them). Have a great day man, Al

That is a killer saw! I love that you take the time to show the reality of saw building. Whenever I have a flywheel that won't budge, the one thing that always works is time, haha. I'll leave the saw on its side, flywheel up and squirt it whenever i pass by followed by medium-light taps with a light hammer. It might take a couple of days. Another thing i noticed, i think your puller would have a more positive purchase if you could flip the recoil cup upside-down. I sure you have it sorted by now though, and i'm just practicing my typing skills. Haha. Cheers!!

Tinman, I enjoyed the video, and I know that at least one other person mentioned how to increase the effectiveness of the impact tool. What I do, is after I have the impact driver properly positioned, I apply as much preload as I can in the direction I want the screw or nut to turn. Unfortunately, I don't have a Sachs Dolmar, and I would like to get my hands on one someday.
@fredericmorin56082 жыл бұрын
I have a 153 that I just happened to be working on. Unlike other saws, you need to give it a stronger pull to get a spark. I am not saying you don't have a spark problem, but the way you are pulling wouldn't give a spark on my 153 either. I would try that again first. If you need to pull the magneto, a 3/16 flat bar with the 3 bolts preloaded, and you hammer gently in the middle, not too hard because the hollow end of the shaft will chip.

I have worked on this style saw many times. Remove flywheel nut. Then use a center punch that fits into the end of crankshaft. Then give the punch a good firm hit with a hammer. This may take several blows. The flywheel will always come loose. simple and works all the time.
@kelvintrass71022 жыл бұрын
these are easy to get off,get a 10mm steel plate ,drill 3 holes in it ,to match the three holes in the flywheel,put on top with 3 bolts and screw down, it will ping off,easy. i have 6 dolmar 153 saws and lots of others.

100cc gets into beast of a saw range. That's big powerhead. The only thing I've ever ran in that size range was an 084 when I worked for the US Park Service in the late 90's. In that day it was what we had for big wood.

You have to turn the impact driver fully in the direction you want the fastner to go then hit it it don't work unless the tool is preloaded so if your trying to loosen turn fully anticlockwise and hold it then hit it

Hey Tinman, I am a new subscriber and I'm excited to see how this project turns out. I have inherited two Sachs Dolmar saws, a 120 and a 123. Both were great saws, but I believe the ignition coils are out on both, no spark at all. I really want to get them going again and I hope I can learn how.

That Bosch FW uses the same puller as a Stihl 045. Get a 3 screw steering wheel puller & three bolts, they could be either M8 or M10 thread. The Stihl tool is too precious at over $60... It will sound like a shotgun when it pops loose!

If you have a stripped out screw you can't get out use a graver and a hammer. I have used this method many times when an easy out doesn't work. Try that before drilling and tapping it's just way easier.
@wichywoo2 жыл бұрын
they are swines like some husky l65 . a puller pulled the bolts right out of the flywheel on a similar dolmar i did ended up drilling and tapping her out to 8mm and that did the job . the sig type chips do fit and do work bud ;o)

I never use a sparkplug to test spark ,test spark with a tester that way you don't have to hold it and pull at the same time?. then disconnect switch they can be faulty? then check wire? then on fly wheel use 3 bolt puller fingered pullers always seem to slip off.it will come off with a bang. . Good Luck!!!
