A Look Back At: GYPSY

WOW! GYPSY is my favorite musical, and I absolutely LOVE Carolee - so how I've missed this post is beyond me. The production looks fantastic, Austen Bohmer is charming and seems perfect casting for Louise, and of course Carolee is sensational. Carolee is one of the finest theater vocalists of all time, but her dramatic skills are equally impressive, and what a great role for her. I wasn't yet born when Merman led the original cast, but I've seen every Broadway revival, and this production looks spectacular. Congratulations to everyone who was involved.

I remember listening to the soundtrack of Gypsy with Ethel Mermen when I was a little boy in the 1960's. I think that's when I fell in love with musical theater. I've been fortunate to have seen the play several times in my life including twice when it was here in Sacramento. Great performances and memories. One of my favorite plays of all times. Thanks for the memories.
