The group you took your tour with is kind of sketchy. They don't have permission to be places like the Eagle Theater (owned by CA State Parks) and any knowledge they claim to have about things like the wiring... they did not ask the owners of the building, they made it up. The story about the light at the Eagle is complete fabrication. They have not updated the wiring in that place since the 1980s. What you saw there was a bulb not maintaining connection with the contact points on it's socket. When it heats up the metal moves and when it cools down contact is reestablished as it moves back. There are no tunnels in Sacramento. There are extended basements. They do not connect and only go as far as the wooden sidewalks. When they raised the city up (15-18 feed near the water to 5 or so feet closer to Sutter's fort) they built walls and filled the road space with dirt to get the buildings up above the flood level. The places you see with shops or restaurants down below street level never raised their buildings and just made the second floor into the entrance. They lied about the mob and satanic stuff to make it more "shocking." The Hall and Luhrs building (the saloon is next door to it, not part of it) did have two brothels operating out of it at one point. One was one of the very first black women to own property in the city. Her best friend owned the brothel next door. It was a different hotel (who's current owners won't let them tour in front of) that held the Cholera victims for weeks. There was no schoolhouse in old town Sacramento, or anywhere close to it. This one is a replica of the style of ones from Grass Valley, Auburn, and central valley. No children went to school in that location. The city (who owns that bit of property) decided to close it because they weren't seeing any profit from it, and chose to say that it wasn't serving the community. All of this is lazy storytelling. If they had taken 5 minutes to google the things they are saying, it would be a much better tour. Unfortunately, as with their not bothering to get permits to give tours on city and state park property, they don't care enough to do it right, they only care about taking your money. I am sorry they tricked you. The Sacramento History Museum gives factual tours in spaces this group has no access to. They also host paranormal investigations in some of the underground/basement spaces, the museum which used to be the old courthouse and jail, and the city cemetery. I highly recommend them if you don't want to be lied to.

Oh wow thank you for that info and insight! That’s a bit disheartening if that is true on how they run their tours. It was a fun event to do with the family nonetheless. And thank you for that recommendation for the other haunted and paranormal tour, we will definitely look into that!!!
