Sacramento residents concerned about drug, homeless problem playing out in neighborhoods

Cellphone video shows a startling sight on a Sacramento sidewalk: a man high on drugs. Steve Large talked to Land Park residents who say this type of thing has become all too common.

Real talk, in south sac, along Franklin boulevard, we have guys with lots of muscles, prison tattoos, shirtless and in their underwear, yelling angrily at cars, sometimes inches from the vehicle windows. What makes it even more appalling, is that I’ve seen police drive right past them. I wondered if it’s acceptable now.

1)Single payer healthcare lowers medical cost by spreading it out over every individual and every employer by percentage. 2) Converting hospitals and healthcare industry to non-profit means that 100% of every healthcare dollar is reinvested back into facilities equipment or salaries, not shareholder profits. 3) Build addiction and mental health hospitals, treatment centers and homes. Cover treatment 100%. 4) Since cities with housing affordability seem to have the most issues, build affordable housing-Duh! Shelters and transitional facilities. Apartment communities, tiny home and mobile home parks. Once there is a place for everyone to go, cities can humanely pass laws to remove them from the streets. The choice for all cities is to demand Total National Healthcare Reform -Then pay for treatment centers, shelters and low income affordable housing, OR live with these problems and lose their tax base. There is no third option.

I agree, I'm homeless and I've never held a sign for help or asked for anything. I figured people would think I need it for drugs. I don't give money I'm pretty clean so I get asked for money from other homeless, I always say I'll get you a sandwich or cold drink I don't give money.

Ive mostly only given items. For one i cant afford to. But mostly cigs, drinks, fast food. & I've donated items to organizations that i trust. Ive offered to purchase items. But while i myself have had to ask for money, i rarely give it out. Besides change i will give out change. Also you can strategically leave items around in the public for the needy. Gallon of water, old shoes, new socks.

Nont gunna lie, I haven’t been in sac since 2018 when I graduated from Rio.. but I know the area, and they’re just tryna live: however the way they live, that’s they norm.. n he’s right, they are suffering with almost no help… I grew up in west sac and south sac. Trust we knew what this was n how it was being ignored in south sac. We protected ourselves by connecting with our community. Ppl me makin it seem like west coast communities be wild. Most of the time, it is Homelessness that causes Drug Addiction, and NOT the other way around. It's the Relentless Misery of living on The Streets that make these people turn to Drugs for relief. But this News Report, like SO Many Others casts this as a Local Problem rather than the National Problem that it truly is. A couple of years ago, Yale Univ School of Public Health published a study showing strong correlations between all the Good Manufacturing Jobs that started going abroad in the 1990's and this so-called National Opioid Crisis. In short, increasingly impoverished Americans are turning to Drugs for relief, as "medicine" to mask the ever increasing poverty in American Life and the misery that comes with it. President Macron finally got the Guts to tell the French People that "the time of abundance is over". If Joe Brandon was any kind of President, rather than being the Senile Stooge Puppet that he is, he too would level with the American Public and just tell them that the American Dream is now just a part of American History as the American Empire is now Dying and on the verge of TOTAL Collapse.
