God, please, through your Holy Mother, abolish all the new rites of Holy Mother Church to the reestablishment of the old rites only.

We have a fried whose was seriously illness and no doctor ever figured out what was going on. The mother went to the local NO parish for extreme unction and was told he couldn't receive it because he wasn't confirmed. This was absolutely absurd! Thankful we have a traditional priest in the area who offered it to him. I haven't seen anything saying that you have to be confirmed before extreme unction. Interested in why this is and if she is considered "disobedient" by going to another priest. This is why I completely understand Archbishop LeFebvre's decision he felt he needed to make for the good of the faithful.

Does the Eastern Catholic rite of anointing put the emphasis on healing?

Thank you for the good podcast, and especially this episode. In this episode it struck me particularly to realize that from baptism to extreme unction, the modern church, in the 'spirit of the council' as is often quoted for most explanations, really hasn't tried to leave anything in the life of a modern day Catholic untouched. Why, in God's name would the 'liturgists' in the last 60 years need to reinvent/modify the ceremonies surrounding every single sacrament? Seems very telling of 'progress' to me.

All the new rite “options” also take away from the certainty, which is one of the benefits of Catholicism vs Protestantism.

I was wondering why you refer to the new rite as the Sacrament of the Sick rather than the Anointing of the Sick, which is the term I hear used all the time and is in the latest CCC. Thank you so much for this series, I've learned so much and look forward to watching all of them.

In the Catholic Church, sacramental anointing requires the use of blessed OLIVE oil. Canola, vegetable, saffron and other such oils cannot be validly used.

can you please do an ep on "If the church normalizes relations with SSPX, doesn't that condone Lefevre's disobedience" or something to that effect.
@matildamattadore48722 жыл бұрын
From my understanding the story of Archbishop Lefevre is misunderstood. The society is only irregular however the Archbishop had done all need for what he did. For me his "disobedience" was not true disobedience as he wanted to provide for the flock. This seems similar to the priestly ordination of Dom Alquin Reed who was ordained by an unnamed bishop because no one was providing a priest to the French Benedictine Monastery. Are priests and bishops to starve their children for no reason, just the principle of just do what your told?

Seeing so many different options in the new rite of the Sacrament of the Sick, I wondered how many variants could be counted. I would say the answer is 172 032 variants. So the priests could serve the sacrament differently in each case.

Good point. One new rite variant that especially concerns me is the risk involved in directly anointing afflicted body parts. I can imagine more than one way this could get someone into trouble.

In the Novus Ordo, they call their new rites “more pastoral” or ministerial … when they’re truly nothing of the kind. Some better ways to describe them might be more generic, less holy, less Catholic, less sacramental and less effective.

JMJ+ Is it valid if given by a Eucharistic Minister? Many souls depend on this Sacrament. To think that so many have either died without their Sacraments or have been prayed over and with and perhaps given the CONSECRATED HOST by a questionable minister is very hard to accept or understand. May GOD have mercy, purify and sanctify the souls of these victims of the N.O. and its vague Sacraments.....
@michaelpena88452 жыл бұрын
No, the sacraments (excluding baptism in extreme cases) can only be conferred by bishops and priests because they have received divine power to give them. Eucharistic ministers can’t do anything.

Baptism is the one sacrament that can be validly performed by anyone in an emergency. According to Pope Eugene IV, Council of Florence, "Exultate Deo," 1439: "In case of necessity, however, not only a priest or a deacon, but even a layman or woman, yes even a pagan and a heretic can baptize, so long as he preserves the form of the Church and has the intention of doing what the Church does." (Denz. 696)
