This session of Choral Conversations revisits the concept of Ethnodoxology, the intersection of faith and living cultural forms in situ. More specifically, I look at how it is a worldwide practice and study of arts facilitation that encourages the grassroots, local composition and production of artistry that is culturally relevant, religiously sound, and emotionally resonant, for use of worship. By looking at the liturgical music ministry practices of St John’s cathedral, Brisbane, I show how such activities provide a way of experiencing a sense of shared communion to a universal faith whilst finding means of performing local identities. Following this, I will engage in a conversation with the session chair, Dr. Eudinice Palaruan, about resonating shared pedagogical and musical practices that can be found in Australia and in Singapore.
