I really enjoyed this presentation by Dr. Smith. He has some very different and refreshing views on General A.S. Johnston as well as the other generals in the western theater and, whether you agree with him or not, he does a fine job of offering his thoughts in a very entertaining way. Glad to hear a talk by "the other Tim Smith."

Love Dr. Smith, but disagree on the importance of Johnston's death at Shiloh. Surviving the day, he could have altered his plans to instead drive Grant into the river as opposed of turning him landward to crush him. in any event, he was certainly the best general the South had in the West, and no one who survives him does a better job as an army commander.
