I started studying this about 2 years ago after i God revealed Deut 5:22 to my eyes. The bible clearly teaches it was never Gods idea to have innocent blood shed to atone for sins. How the people got off track is another story. Certainly begins to make more sense who God really is and what he yruly desires from his people. Im with you on this 100%.

I'd also like to add that when Yeh Ho VaH is saying in Isaiah that He doesn't like Sabbath and Feast Days , it's only because they were sacrificing animals during the moedim(appointed times) . Notice also , Yeh Ho VaH asks a rhetorical question , "who hath required this" ? This is insinuating that it obviously wasn't Him . I'm convinced that they were sent into captivity because of their blood sacrifices and that Yeshua came to rid The Temple of them and that's why The Temple was destroyed , they wouldn't stop doing them . This video got put into my "against animal sacrifices" playlist

This will be an interesting one for sure. I think sacrifice became a substitute for repentance, and the prophets like Jeremiah and Micah were railing against the religious officials that they were doing it for the wrong reasons. Also, sacrifice itself was primarily meant for purification of the holy place, and repentance was something that was separate from sacrifice. Without a temple, there’s no need for sacrifice. If the prophets are right about a new temple being built, then sacrifice would resume, not for atonement of sin, but for purification of the holy place. Looking forward to hearing the points made in the presentation.

YHWY never required a temple ever. The sacrifices were to be performed on a dirt mound and if stone was used for an Altar then it must not have iron or any metal instrument touch the stones. The Temple in Jerusalem was made from hewn stone with metal instrumants, the Altar I am not sure??

I hope you realise if he's speaking the truth, it also makes Christianity false? Because Jesus died on the cross in accordance to the Law of animal sacrifices according to the New Testament? If God never desired the necessity of sacrifice for forgiveness, then it nullifies the necessity for Jesus Christ. (I say as a believer in Jesus as the Messiah, and disagree with Ross' assessments).

Hi Ross! Thank you for this chronological breakdown. I would like to know if you also feel that since sacrifices were/are not desired by Yah that eating animal flesh in general is not His desire for us. This us what im lead to believe, of course mainly because His plan for us was to eat plants, animals also eating plants, but also because He commands us not to kill.... Covenant meals and the spilling of blood for atonement are where I would like more clarification ..i understand we repent and our sins ARE forgiven so what about the Day of Atonement? Do we still observe it? Did Yahusha eat fish? Some suggest He did not and im inclined to agree. Lots of questions here, lol, but do you have a teaching on biblical vegetarianism? Maybe that would address most of my questions. Thabk you!!!

Noahs was told to take two of each unclean animal onto the ark and 7 clean animals onto the ark so he would have known some animals were for eating and others not for eating. This implies that not eating all meat is wrong Able also sacrificed an animal at the beginning aswell. So it's possible that this was ok by father

@listenandobey8127 Жыл бұрын
@amina001 We question that ourselves. I wouldn't be surprised if that has been tampered with or even added in. It could very well be reversed as the meat offering was not accepted but the fruit of the ground was. That would delete sacrifices altogether. But if the Torah was tampered with as Zephaniah said, then they would need a "start" to the sacrifices to make it "necessary". I think many things in the Bible are offered as tests by YHWH to see if we truly study His word. That's why man (pagan-Constantine) put the Canon together as they saw fit. The Bible is not infallible no matter how many times a preacher says it is. Keep questioning topics like this. That's how you learn right? Shalom

Every single verse he brings is from the prophets, not the Torah. Books that the Rabbis compiled and debated about which to include. Prophets speak in a poetic and hyperbolic manner, they are not allowed to add or subtract from the law of Moses. God doesnt want vain sacrifices to be used as a loophole for sinners, it is really is that simple. Sacrifices are part of Torah law, end of story.
@ProselyteofYah Жыл бұрын
Respectfully disagree with the interpretations presented. I too have noted these contrasts, but I came to a very different conclusion on why God commanded something that he did not actually "want". I believe, that when ”God says he didn’t want sacrifices" (Psalm 40:6, Jeremiah 7:22), that the point was regarding Israel’s obedience regarding the "purpose" of the sacrifices, but not that he never literally required or commanded sacrifices. I believe the 'deeper mystery' of the Tanakh, is that God did not “desire” sacrifices in the respect that it was not his ideal circumstance, but his justice and nature "required" blood payment to cover sins. Life for life. Which is why he begs us "do I really 'desire' or enjoy to destroy the wicked? Would I rather them not repent an live?" - as if he is expressing that he is 'forced' to destroy unrepentant sinners. God is almost what can said to be, in an internal emotional conflict with what he 'wants' for us, against what he 'must do' with us, concerning his justice and eternal law. Because his 'purity' does not 'allow' corruption to withstand (hence, Moses could not look at his face or he'd die, the priests had to be ceremonially washed clean or they'd be struck down in the Temple, nobody could touch the Ark or they'd die, etc - all symbols of God's purity not being able to withstand sinfulness or corruption, and so we must all be 'washed clean'). And as a (non-trinitarian) believer in Yeshua as the Messiah (I realise here not all are), I think that he accomplished the last sacrifice God would ever need for mankind, 'hence' the timing of the coming Anointed One being in line with the prophet Daniel's words, and his statement that the coming of righteousness would come with the 'end' of sacrifices and destruction of Jerusalem - this would be nonsensical in the ears of most Jews back then, for they would think "how can there be eternal righteousness when sacrifices end and the Temple is gone?", but it is tied with the coming of an Anointed one. As mentioned in the video, the Temple is gone, and now, sacrifices can't be performed anymore, and I think this is 'because' of Yeshua being the Messiah. In order to be forgiven in this time period we live in, if the Law of sacrifice is Kosher and from God, then it necessitates that an everlasting sacrifice has already been performed for us all, which is exactly what the Gospel proclaims regarding Yeshua dying for sins - a sacrifice once for all time. And so in him, his followers are baptised as a "tvilah" of all their sins and uncleanness. This then allowed the Temple system to cease, as Yeshua himself, becomes said Heavenly temple in himself fulfilled. And thanks to this, we are saved from the 'nature' of God's wrath and justice, which 'requires' life for life in divine law, but at the same time, YHWH knows it to be injustice when the sins of the fathers are put upon the sons, or when one innocent thing must die for another (even though that indeed was the "spiritual" or "mystical" reality of the situation). The point of the Law was not sacrifice in itself, but to obey and have a system to cover sins. But when Israel was living in sin, they placed focus on sacrifice 'in place' of living in righteousness and repentance, hence the scriptures in many places say "to obey is better than to sacrifice", and that God "did not command sacrifice", ie; it being rhetoric. God commanded righteousness, not sacrifice, sacrifices were a 'cover' for lack of righteousness. In a similar stead, in the words of Yeshua, "man was not made for the Sabbath, but Sabbath for man". I believe the king Josiah ripped his clothes, because they didn't have any version of the Law 'at all' available to them, which is context of those passages, Israel was in idolatry, worshipping the gods of other nations, engaging in polytheism. Hence, if they had the Law, 'any' version of the Law, whether it be an "earlier version" (which Professor Ross suggests in his videos) or the later one which has all the other Legal Law codes and details on sacrifices, BOTH of them say to worship YHWH alone. So, it stands to reason I believe, that in Josiah's time, the king was upset because he didn't know polytheism and idol worship was a sin, because they weren't reading 'any' version of the Torah at that time, until it's their attention. And that the Israelites had been worshipping false gods, idols, and living in immorality, whilst offering up animal sacrifices at the same time, thinking that's all YHWH actually required of them - which resulted in his great wrath and jealously that both Josiah, and later Jeremiah knew was coming. Hence Josiah went out to destroy all the idols and false forms of sacrifice (which included human and child burned sacrifices) - but nothing is mentioned of him saying kosher animal sacrifices were to cease. In the following eras, we see Israel punished and taken into captivity for their crimes, but after this, they continued to offer up sacrifices once more, and according to the scriptures, they were redeemed and the Temple rebuild 'because' they had repented, and were worshipping in purity once more, which included the continuation of the animal sacrifices, so it could not have been the animal sacrifices that were wrong in themselves, or God would not have redeemed his people from the captivity if they had yet to learn that lesson. But indeed, I do believe even God thought animal sacrifices were a sad ordeal, even if a necessary one, just as it was for the death of Yeshua. But with the end of those sacrifices, which is 'now' I believe through the victory of the Messiah, the Age of Peace will eventually come, where "No harm" will be done to man or animal, in all God's Kingdom, when his full Heavenly will takes place on Earth, as in Heaven.

Malachi 2:11-13 - Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the holiness of the LORD which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god. The LORD will cut off the man that doeth this, the master and the scholar, out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and him that offereth an offering unto the LORD of hosts. And this have ye done again, covering the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, insomuch that He regardeth not the offering any more, or receiveth it with good will at your hand. Malachi 3:1-4 - Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts. But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap: And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness. Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in former years. Malachi seems to be saying that it was because of transgressions that Yah stopped accepting sacrifice, but after the return of our Lord the sons of Levi will offer in His temple again, and it will be accepted again as in the days of old. Do you think he is referring to the sacrificial system specified in the Torah or something else?

This is an easy one to figure out. In times of prosperity, the sacrifices made seemed to work. In times of death and destruction, they could see the sacrifices made didn't actually help with prosperity, so what do they do, they make excuses and say that maybe it's us that's the problem. They failed to see that nature was the boss and no God existed to grant prosecution or prosperity. It's all a mind game.

The Temple was built as a place where people from all nations could come and learn about the one true God, there were never to be sacrifices there. The practice of animal sacrifice in the Temple was the result of the scroll Hilkaih "found." King Josiah was loved by God and God by King Josiah but Hilkiah was able to convince King Josiah that God desired sacrifice and when King Josiah's heirs did not return to what they knew from their childhood was right God sent the priests and the royalty into exile in Babylon and leaving the common people that did not participate in the sacrifice or eating of flesh in the land. God did not destroy the Temple the second time until the priests ran out of goats to spare as opposed to sacrifce. The lying pen of the scribe Jeremiah talks about is his own father! Shalom

You pretend to address the context, but then reduce it down to the attitude of the offerer. The passages you referred to talk about murder, theft, idolatry, etc. This isn't a mere attitude problem. The sacrificial system clearly depicts a communion meal intended to reconcile two parties. YHVH is not going to sit at the table so to speak with evil back-stabbers. Jeremiah 7 also says (verses 4-7) the deeds that Israel needs to put away in order for YHVH to dwell in the temple. It Does Not include putting away the sacrificial system. You run into a big problem with Yeshua symbolizing the Pasach. This justifies 1,400 years of slaughtering lambs, which you are implying is sinful. The book of Acts depicts believers in Yeshua continuing to participate in temple practice with no hint that they saw anything wrong with the animal sacrifices in general. Obviously, they would have agreed with the prophets that the offerings of those who conspired to have Yeshua killed would not be accepted. Blood and death are a normal part of our existence and the Westen practice of shielding ourselves from it is not at all healthy. Vegetarians order exotic ingredients from around the world to stay healthy, while merely adding some meat (from natural, healthy animals of course) takes care of nutritional needs when you only have access to regional plant foods.
