Hey man, great playing! I wanted to ask, how did that bass hold BTBAM tuning? My band plays in same tuning and I am considering buying JM2 well because it's Yamaha and John Myung so... :D Is it hard to get great tone from this bass? How are you capturing bass sound in this video?

Thanks for commenting! It's a VERY stable and comfortable bass, especially considering the price tag. As I recall, it did a great job with the whacky tuning of Dan Briggs, and also one of the best tones I have achieved, very crunchy :D I have done better than this video... I'm usually not that great at EQ/Effects/mixing, but I think a good tone still can be achieved quite easily. I record through my Zoom B3 processor, and split the signal: one raw (effects bypassed), and one through the processor effect loop, occasionally driving the signal through my Ashdown EB180 head. And then some mystical digital processing (a little multiband compression, EQ, maybe overdrive) - check out my Fatal Tragedy, Home, or A New Beginning covers, if you like. Those turned out pretty good sounding ones. Hope that's enough :D

Also, check out the videos of the user duilkin, he can make this bass sing. His tone is a killer!

I will check duilkin too :D Watched all your videos since i got offer for that Bass, reason why i want it is a) DT b) my band plays 1+1/2 step downtuned and my current bass Cort A6 just can't hold it (also it is not very suitable for heavier stuff) Good to know that it's done through Zoom B3 because i own that thing too (although i have Trace Elliot bass amp :D) So you used post processing overdrive? Or the one in Zoom B3? I also wanted to ask about those strings, are they worth the mony? How long do they last? :D

Yeah, I have a Zoom B3 because a) Joey Vera, b) cheap/versatile. I used the OD in the Zoom, and used post processing OD on the clean track. You really should rather ask a technician though :D Regarding the strings, these are DR Neons (White), however I recently switched to D'Addario ProSteels (Light gauge), because a) John Myung b) cheaper. They seem to keep brightness/growl for a longer time. But you should see for yourself.
