🙏🏻 RIP Bob3. A rainbow bridge came & took your Spirit. More hail overnight.. We would never have thought then, but today, Tuesday bob2 does not look strong enough to eat. Concerned about illness. 🌕 Full Moon wishes & hopes to all.💕

So sad. Why didn't the mother feed him he had no strength to help himself. RIP little one.

See what Geemeff said, mother won’t feed the weak ones. Cats do that too, push out the weak one in the litter if they don’t think it will survive. Better give the food to those who have a chance to carry the mother’s genes forward.

why only this little chick was ignored by mom bird?

The most aggressive chick(s) get the most food ALWAYS. This is instinct, not logic.
@GeemeffGeemeff8 ай бұрын
@@thomasmleahy6218 that's correct - C1 gets most of the attention and the food, and C2 has to compete vigorously for food, which leaves the much younger and weaker C3 with not much of a chance. They're really just insurance in case Eggs 1 & 2 fail.

Too weak. The mother sees no value and would rather focus on the two strongest. How she sees it. She can make more next breeding season. Survival of the fitest is all that matters in the wild

How did they die R.I.P.
@GeemeffGeemeff8 ай бұрын
It's all in the description - C3 was never strong after hatching, always a bit wobbly, and once it fell out of the nest cup and was left uncovered in wet weather, hyperthermia set in quickly.

Do you know what happened after his death? Did the parents bring him out of the nest? Really a sad story. Many thanks for your wonderful footage. Greetings from Switzerland.

Greetings from Scotland 🙋🏼♀️ Very sad indeed. The body is still where it fell, under the cot rails at front. If Parents don't dispose of body by taking away, it's likely to become part of the nest. I've seen it happen with Eaglets, it's a sad thought.
@thomasmleahy6218 Жыл бұрын
Usually, with older eaglets, it's either starved or pecked to death, then eaten, with "motherly love" mother tearing it apart and feeding the others. Ospreys usually don't do this, but other raptors do. There are videos of this on KZbin.

Greetings from London! Sorry for late response, I've just seen this now. Yes, Dorcha removed the remains of C3 a week later: kzbin.info/www/bejne/apmulYp6l75pbrc

@@thomasmleahy6218 Louis' first mate Aila did this in year one, 2017, when both she and Louis were very inexperienced youngsters. Three chicks hatched but she only fed the first, C2 & 3 died quickly then she fed C2 to C1 and discarded C3. A bit of a grisly watch, but that's nature for you and not subject to human moralising.

@@thomasmleahy6218 C3 was never strong right from hatching and was unable to compete with C1 and C2 for food - earlier videos show it falling over and being too weak to beg for food. Then once it fell out of the nest up and was uncovered in cold wet weather, hyperthermia set in.
