I'd bet money that Griffin sowed the seeds of distrust in Millie. People think they're "amicable" in their divorce, but anybody who has ever had divorced parents knows that 99.9% of the time, that isn't how it works. Think about it this way. Grif and Geoff wouldn't have gotten a divorce if they love each other and their marriage is working out. Grif likely wanted Millie to love her more than Geoff, and so told Millie a bunch of stuff about Geoff's past that she knew would make him look bad in Millie's eyes OR made things up with the same goal in mind. When going through divorce, that always happens. Both parents will try to sabotage their child's relationship with the other parent.

The thing about her though, is the fact that shes smarter and more self aware than I was at that age (not saying much) as well ad most kids her age.
@chriss.93988 жыл бұрын
LordIncest Very true. I think that it is a very potent combination. Someone who is very aware and intelligent but does not have the experience or age to fully scope out the impact of their actions due to their inexperience and age. I think that is why it got under geoff's skin. What she said was pretty harsh and doesn't make you feel like you are doing anything right as a father even though later she might apologize for ever saying something like that. I know I eventually apologized for saying certain things that I never truly meant and they basically said its ok and that they know I truly never meant it as a kid. That basically taught me whenever I have a kids to have a thick skin and be somewhat forgiving.
@Peidro648 жыл бұрын
Yeah, just in general, kids are mean, they just dont notice it yet. Im sure this is a different experience for everyone, but everyone in middle school was a dick, but in highschool, everyone was a bit more mature and grown up, and therefore didnt go around starting fights. Again, sure this doesnt apply to everyone.
@chriss.93988 жыл бұрын

If I could have a real life conversation with Geoff, I would tell him not to worry too much about the second part (Millie wanting to tell her mom about something, but not to him). It's a gender thing, as a dude myself, I have always been and felt closer to my dad. If I have something on my mind, and i need the advice of someone wiser and more experienced in life, I would go to my dad without hesitation. My mom on the other hand, I would have to think about, cause depending on the subject, my mom might get angry and explode on me. I had a conversation with my cousin sister a few months ago, and we were talking about family. For her, it was the opposite of me, she was always more closer to her mom, less so to her dad. However, that part where Millie said Geoff wasn't the best dad in the world; Geoff man, I feel for you. If a parent does their best to raise you, feed you, care for you and your concerns, and teach you right from wrong, and does not abuse or mistreat you, then in my book, they are the best parent in the world to you. There is no living parent on this planet that should be recognized by everyone else as "the best", the best parent for you, theoretically, should be your own. You can choose your friends and best friends, but never your family.

You know hearing that from his daughter broke his heart. I know for a fact it broke mine. God damn.

I can only imagine that Millie stumbled upon or has watched this video at some point... I wonder if she regretted that she said it not realizing it would bum him out that much, or if she was more like -- 'well yeah, he should know he's probably not the BEST dad in the world.. but i suppose I could have said it a little better.' lol

I hate when people complain about problems that are smaller than mine. But getting rejected by your own daughter? wow. I have no words

Geoff is a better dad than what I have, I longed for a dad like him, and I'm nearly 18 now and still want one like him. Geoff is just a special kind of person.

Millie should get Geoff a "world's best dad" mug and cross out everything but "dad"

awe. this made me cry. I feel his pain. even though I don't have kids of my own, I can see his pain through his eyes and it shot over to me. my heart broke when watching this. I hope Millie watched this and felt really guilty

it's so sweet hearing how dedicated of a dad he is. I mean, when i was 10, I used to say stupid shit to my family without thinking all the time. I never actually thought how would my words affect them. Look at how Geoff is troubled. He's genuinely concerned about how Millie sees him as a dad, as a person She can trust.

Damn I feel bad for him everyone's making jokes and it clearly bothers him

Everyone else probably just wanted to make him feel better by the only way they know how, joking around. It's pretty sad really.

Why did you have to make this legitimately sad with the piano music :'D

I mean, shes still a kid who learns from other people and her surroundings. Geoff has quite the vocabulary himself and hes just a naturally vocal guy, its no wonder she picked up on that as well

This is so sad!!!! I can't call Geoff the greatest dad ever cuz my dad is but I think Geoff is pretty dang great. He is an awesome dad who loves his family very much. And I know he works very hard at it. His wife and daughter are number one, in his book. You can just tell.

I think as children, we take our parents for granted and it is not until we grow up that we realize that this whole time, you've always had the best parents you could ever ask for. Not the best in the world, but the best parents YOU could ever have. If you ever read this Geoff, don't get discouraged. Always be who you are and eventually, they will learn. This is really awkward to ask, but are there more than 1? Ignore this last part just keep up the great work!
