Out of the night that covers me, Black as the bit from pole to pole, I thank what ever gods may be For my unconquerable sole. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds, and shall find, me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul... - 'Invictus' William Ernest Henley

Hawkeye: War isn’t Hell. War is war, and Hell is Hell. And of the two, war is a lot worse. Father Mulcahy: How do you figure that, Hawkeye? Hawkeye: Easy, Father. Tell me, who goes to Hell? Father Mulcahy: Sinners, I believe. Hawkeye: Exactly. There are no innocent bystanders in Hell. War is chock full of them - little kids, cripples, old ladies. In fact, except for some of the brass, almost everybody involved is an innocent bystander.

They mocked him. They beaten him. They didn’t believe he could make a good soldier just because he wouldn’t carry a gun. They treated him cruelly just because of his beliefs. But then, when the enemy attacked and they had to retreat, not all of them would make it back. Some of them would be wounded and left behind to die. As he watched one fellow soldier die in his arms, he sobbed out softly “I don’t understand. I can’t hear you.” But then, over the loud explosions from the bombardment, he heard several voices cry out for help. As many of the soldiers who did make it fell back, he looked back at the battlefield. Standing back up on his feet, he whispered “Alright.” Placing his helmet back on his head, he ran back out on the torn battlefield, letting the flames engulf his body as the shells rained down. Working tirelessly behind enemy lines with not even a single weapon to defend himself from an enemy whose hellbent on killing his kind. Though exhausted and his muscles weak, he kept up his rescue. With every rescue, he prayed out *”Please Lord, help me get one more.”* In honor of battlefield medic Desmond Thomas Doss, who was able to fight a war without having to fight. Who saved many lives and ended none.

They called me a hero, that I saved millions in my country. That was far from the truth. Artillery roared, guns blazed, and men screamed as the cacophony of war ached my ears. I tried to help as many as I could, but they either died or would soon perish. I didn’t know what to do, I was supposed to be a medic...and yet my patients died after I did everything I could. The front was brutal, and causalitys frequent so I had plenty to treat as part of my duty. I tried my best to survive, to deal with the barrage of cannon fire and the assault of my conscience. Until, I met her... She was from the other side, badly wounded as she breathed heavily behind a broken brick wall. I and a commando friend of mine approached her, and quick as lightning she rose her pistol at me. I put my hands up, and the commando pointed his rifle at her. Her face was twisted in a sick mixture of sadness and hatred as she eventually dropped her gun. I slowly approached her again, and she only gave a soft protest as I began to treat her wounds. The commando was angry at this point, telling me to get out of the way of his weapon. I glared at him, gritting my teeth as I shouted “I’m sick of seeing people die when I try to help them! I hate ending a soldiers life, and seeing the lost hope in their eyes as they drift into death! I’m a doctor, and I’m going to treat this damn patient whether you like it or not!” The commando took a step back, looked around, then looked grimly at me as he grumbled “You have 1 hour before the boys get back, you’d best be done by then.” He walked away, as I continued my treatment with what knowledge I had. It was crude, given the circumstances and the fact I had little time, but I was able to make a rudimentary cast and bandages as I covered her leg and chest. Once I was done, I took a uniform from a nearby corpse. She looked at me with disgust, and I said “You’d best wear it, lest the other soldiers see who you are.” She glared at me, attempting to yell “Who the hell do you think you are?!” I retorted with “A simple medic who’s doing his damn job! A patient is a patient, no matter what side he or she is from!”. She shut up, and finally changed into it. I looked away, being a respectable gentleman. After she was done, I helped her through the barricades and brought her to the camp. Immediately after I arrived, the General snapped at me for not making it in time for the meeting. I apologized and when he asked who was the girl with me, I said “A patient.” I brought her to a hidden area near camp and returned. After the meeting, I brought two of my medic friends for a little “talk”. I showed them the woman, and they looked at me strangely. “Jackson, I thought you couldn’t get a nearly dead soldier back on her feet.” one snickered. “Shut up will you?” I grumbled, “This is a soldier from the other side.” Immediately after that, they brought out their pistols pointed at me and her. I explained what happened, and their faces darkened. “You know, you could get court-martialed...” I grimaced, then responded, “We’re supposed to save people, right?” One of the medics spat “What does that have to do with anything?” I added “So, why are we killing them? Why are we shooting the wounded for being on the other side?” Both of them were about to respond before I interrupted them. “I’m only doing what a doctor would do.” They groaned “Oh god...” and “We’re dead meat” before bringing her inside the medical tent and beginning a proper medical procedure. Two weeks from then, the war was over. The boys came in to their families and everyone cheered as we came in. As I have said before, we were hailed as “Heroes”, but I felt something much more different. All I did was save the life of a single person...and yet I felt proud. After the whole victory party and festivities, I visited the woman I had saved. She was in a hospital bed, the light from the warm sunny day shining in. She looked at me strangely, then smiled slightly. “Why did you abandon your line of duty to save me? To risk your own life for that of another?” I looked at my hands, a shaky voice emitting from me as I said _”Because....even though the hell of war roared all around me...I still found it inside myself to save someone else. I put my humanity above my line of duty...and I have no regrets.”_ The End.

@mikhailzeero9251 4 жыл бұрын
So why God create us? Maybe he want us to live and enjoy the benefit of being alive for a brief period of time. But why we question God having those war? Thus God urge that war. No it is ourselves that makes war to others. For everytime we abuse the others thinking to ourselves that we are the gods among the others. Ignoring the needs and welfare of the others. Solving all conflicts through war. We became the war itself. It became our nature. For the sake of our selfish interest of power and influence it takes thousands of life. Children, women and fighting men protecting their families. Those question we must deserve to answer rather than blaming on God. Why we make war to others? If we could create peace and co-exist with peace and respect to others. Thus war would benefit us all?

@@athonaris2426 You've got some interesting thoughts here. Think about it this way: If you would be lonely, the last Person on earth, but you would have all you Need to create robots which look like humans and behave like. Now, These robots, of course they would tell you they love you, but how would you feel? Since you simply programmed them to say so. That's why god gave us a free will, so we can make the choice to follow him...or not, on our own. Those who follow shall know mercy and love, as they shall enter heaven once they died. Those however who refuse, are the ones to create war, and all that is Evil, on earth. As a matter of fact, and the most of them aren't even Aware, there are only two sides. The side where god is, and the side where the devil is. There is no between. Not following god means to automatically follow the devil, the true creator of all Evil...And war itself. So, let me ask a simple question: Would you like to have those robots around you without mind, without free will? To tell you by program that they love you even though you never know ist true? or would you enhance their program with a free will? So some of them may choose to turn away from you, but some will show you true love? I recommend you to think about what i said, and after that, make your choice. Hopefully, we see each other on the right side someday.

Thanks, This playlist really helps me when I miss my grandparents. My grandpa was a foot soldier in WWII and was wounded in Hürtgen forest along the border of occupied Germany. He kept a journal of his deployment in his breast pocket, and when he was shot in the shoulder, the bullet nearly missed his journal/ bible and to this day you can see the yellowed pages with blood stains. After his injury, his handwriting changed to shaky letters as he tried to write with his right hand but switched to his left when it was too painful the words: "Hospital train" are barely legible. I keep his photo and journal on my nightstand with a red poppy pin. After his service he became a guard at Folsom prison and growing up I would hear his incredibly stories.

This music perfectly describe how horrific war is how scarred veterans are how much they had to go through how they saw their best friend die in front of them it makes you think of all the sacrifices our dear heroes are willing to make to make this world a better place they are willing to sacrifice their lives they go through all of this horror and pain and emotion so you don't have to do it we don't realise how much they did for us and we treat them like they are regular civilian things need to change in this world cause a veteran was once a hero and is always a hero they deserve the respect we are supposed to show a hero who willingly had gone through all the horrors war as to give just to see us smile and here we are making them homeless civilians things need to change we need to make them smile as they made us smile through their sacrifices #onceaheroalwaysahero

"Few people laughed. Few people cried. Most people were silent. Now I am become death, destroyer of worlds." These words I shall remember for eternity. Because I heard these very words from a dear friend of mine. It was a pleasent sunny day and we were taking a walk. I had asked him what he witnessed during his time in the war although most of the time, I was right beside him. He said "hell, that's what I saw." We stayed quiet for the next few minutes. Then the ground started to shake, the sky turned a hellish red and black. We looked up to see that the moon had shattered like glass. There was pieces of it falling everywhere around us. We just ran for our lives. I heard this awful noise as a beast came down from the heavens. Me and my friend stopped in our tracks when it landed in front of us. It looked down at him and pointed. It swing its steel fist and the fist hit my dear friend. Time stopped for a moment. he looked at me and said "Its been a great life with you, I hope we meet again some day." Time unfroze, he was gone and burned alive by that beast! I screamed at the metal beast that stood before me. It locked eyes with me before it took off into the hell fire sky. I asked myself, "is this what heavens fall looked like?" I looked up at a shard of the moon coming down straight at me. I accepted my fate, I wanted to be with my friend. As the shard crushed Me I said "I'm coming home..."

I’ve been in a creative rut for years and I haven’t been able to write anything, but listening to this gave me this dark inspiration to write the monologue of a dying old man looking back the war he fought and regretting what he did to the world. Every war is a civil war. For we are all brothers and sisters. So as you look around in your foxhole, trench, or bunker you see the soldier next to you. He is your brother. The man you point your rifle at, is your brother. We are all humans in a struggle against one another. As long as we are humans there will always be civil wars. Brother versus brother. Please, end the fighting. Stop killing our family members.

I hate this...😥 But love it at the same time...♥️ My great grandfather was amazing. I loved him so much😭 He fought during WWII. He was a brave soldier. He was a gunner in the Air Force. He completed all of his missions, but he got wounded. On making their way to land the bomber plane, damage was done to the aircraft and the plane came down in a terrible way. My grandfather was unable to climb out of the gunners position and the plane came down with a crash. The landing gear had been damaged badly and was unable to be deploy. The plane almost crushed him completely. He survived and completely served his country and he was honorably discharged and awarded a purple heart. I miss him so much😥😭💔 Be thankful for those who gave THEIR lives as a sacrifice for OUR families and OUR freedoms. Thanks you to those who are serving now, those who have served, and those who will serve. YOUR sacrifice is greater than anything else to this country. YOU truly are America's superheroes!!! Keep up the FIGHT and SACRIFICE!!! 🇺🇸😘♥️ YOU are OUR freedom!!!

My great-grandpa was a Captain in the French Navy. He was captured by the NVA while in the church by himself. After the war, one of his prison mates said the NVA killed him. I couldn't imagine the shit he went through but it must've been bad like REALLY really bad. My grandpa was a Major in the ARVN. While on patrol with his men(he was a captain at this time) he got shot and the bullet went through him from the stomach out his back(or the other way around idk). It didn't hurt at the moment cuz of adrenaline but after, he said it was great pain. Grandpa passed away in the US from natural causes. My dad didn't join the military. He became the leader of a hospital and saved lives. I think of myself as the "successor" of my family's military lineage. After I finish school(college, university) I plan to join the navy and become a fighter pilot. Now, I understand that I'll experience hell but I just want to defend my country like how they wanted to from threats posed today and in the future.

Death Hymn is a very haunting piece. Every time I listen to it, I think of the destruction and the pain war causes. War is a literal hell on earth. Ant the effects of the war last waves beyond what happened, and the effects it has on those who lived during said war last waves beyond childhood, service, and more. In fact, it can last forever, unless we do something about it.

Magnificence capturing the emotions here 🎵 [Thawing hearts torn from each soul without a beat Glistening ice gathers as silence and snow greet With a horrid future stirring in the eyes of the damned Laying motionless in the cold with no hope to be had Obliterated blue skies, now sightless and invisible Thickening smog spreads and blankets the miserable The dead froze stiff, with ghostly sorrowed gloom Their souls are bound with old and hollowed wounds Bleakness draweth near with each breath taken deep Blackened are their tears, without hearts, still they weep Silence and sleep only known as Death's sons Mindless they shall creep as shadows without sun Violence and vengeance are thy keepers of such wrath Timeless and endless, these unmakers of wrought paths Decompose and destroy are thine enforcers of doom As souls fall in the void to be slain whilst consumed Trapped of a sealed fate, no escaping this cold hell Within frigid gates which now hold the soulless shells Lost art thou, ye ghosts of such beckoning wars Brought forth across the bridges of Death and his doors🕯]

But shortly after its replaced by a great angelic sound, saying that all of the fallen soldiers and innocent humans will be granted their long-awaited rest after they did their best to survive.

To deny humans an action, is to tempt them to it all the more. Like a moth to the flames, we go untoward conflict. Wether it be in debate, in belief, in war. Humans will always have conflict, by this point it is now in our nature. But I believe that it is only when you are broken and in the dark surrounded by the ashes, that you truly can see the light and feel its warmth. To relish in what you once took for granted, but now understand the true value of.

A bond of brothers Achilles squad, took the honor to defend gates at all costs. Entactist taking every shot they can to finish what was left of the resistance. The 5 members of Achilles went through endless wars to secure the Gates of Denom. Them and the rest of the Men and Woman who were willing to fight for there freedom of countless worlds. But unfortunate enough. The odds were unsettling losing Denom, the last city on earth to those who are powerless. The gates were blown down. And the Resistance was no more. War can have it's horrors,but the people suffer the same pain,the other side feels the same pain. nobody wants to die,but life is how it is,seeing the eyes of a soldier loosing hope is not nice. my family tree has gone down several generations. My family goes as far back as native american times when the US was still growing westward. All of my past generations have seen warfare. The last one who passed away was my great grandma. He was in WW2, served the navy. He didn’t say much about the war, possibly due to his much older age. When he passed, everyone was sad. My mom couldn’t even finish her speech about him due to her emotional status at the funeral. I didn’t say much, but my emotions were impacted harder than a bombshell against the ground. I still have a badge that he had with me, and it’ll always be with me. War is not a joke. War is a serious matter of discussion, and can’t be taken lightly. War isn’t about the guns and explosions, it’s about the people who have dealt with war.
