He could have been smarter. Could have been more… more… I don’t know, but just, he could’ve lived. But… It would have made him less than he was. staring at the scene around her, she longed to see that familiar face. The face that joined her in battle more times than not. The face that lit up when she walked into a room. The face of the man that she had fell in love with long before the war began, but a face that she knew would be with her always. "Where is he? We've won this battle, it's time to celebrate." She smiled, but her gut had a sinking feeling, as the other soldiers stood with somber looks. "Let us tell you how he lived. How he become a hero."

Every night we dream of those we killed, and the families we left without husbands or wives. The victors are not those that return to tell a tale. It is those who died honorably in the war, and that have no longer need to suffer. The lives given, to return those home that have survived. I salute you, my brothers and sisters. I have been a little tired lately, so my next letter will be later than usual. Bombs have been exploding for three days and nights straight. Don't worry, I'm fine. Unfortunately, negotiations have broken down. Before the war is over, autumn will have arrived. The nights are getting more chilly. Don't forget to buy a new winter coat. Your red coat has its sleeves unraveling. One of the bombs exploded close to our base. Don't worry, I'm fine. But my next letter will be sent later than usual, it might even take months this time. You can still send me letters, I would love to hear more from you. I wish we were together again. My dearest goodbyes to you, Your forever supporter.

What is honor, if not sacrifice? I wish you were more selfish. I wish you worried less about me. I wish you cared about yourself more. It's okay if you miss a few days at work. It's okay to be sick sometimes. It's okay to be angry sometimes. But you are none of these. You are my father, and a husband. You are a carer of the chronically ill. You are my moral compass. And you are so much more. You are things I wish you weren't. Maybe you would have lived a little longer then. But then you also wouldn't have been a hero.

The battle is over, we have triumphed, but when everything clears revealing the devastating image of chaos and total destruction... the emotion in my heart and the beating stop abruptly. Dejected inside me, very late I began to understand that the battle was not for freedom, it was not for honor, much less for noble causes.... My temperament and the blood of a Warrior that runs through my veins, blinded my reasoning, in the face of false speeches that encouraged heroism and the taking up of arms.... Now I know that everything was for greed, for power....Any Hymn of Glory, tastes like defeat to me

Surounded, they dug in, and held for days waiting for reinforcments that never came. He stayed behind during the brakeout acting as a diversion so his comrades could make it to friendly lines.

It is traumatizing but it is not when we die that people tell others our story, but how we lived... before war... but in peace... with ourselves...others... family members... wives... husbands... daughters... sons... friends... band of brothers/sisters in the barracks... telling each and every one that we are excited to get home and see our significant others and maybe kids... but, little do they know... some may never see the light of day again. "I killed him" he said when asked the question. "I'm sorry..." The girl looked up to his face. one hand clutching the other. Nails digging deep in the palm. " He was bleeding out..." The old man began when his voice broke. " I tried to carry him but we were escaping and He'd lost his leg shielding me. Me!? " "It is the duty of the old to protect the young. To die for the young and here I am living cause of a boy who should be standing here INSTEAD OF ME!" The girls eyes widened as here knees gave out. She didn't look at the soldiers behind the old man. Stopped searching their face for a familiar one a while ago. " So you left him to rot!? Among the enemies!? He will not even get a grave. They will burn him into cinders. He deserves to lay besides our parents. Not to be turned to ashes. You're all cowards..." "Your brother wanted us to live to tell you he died like a hero." "Funny, My brother also told me once to be wary of old men in a profession where men die young."

Pölarisia’s weary eyes scanned the battlefield for hope. There would never be any to find. She knew. But hope is a lingerer, one that stays long after it is sent away, it clings hard, and it falls hard. Friends lay scattered, blood flowed like the river that flowed through her homeland, the river that was the reason, the reason why so many of her friends lay dead; she couldn’t do this anymore, she couldn’t keep this charade up any longer…she couldn’t let them down…Her sword lay in pieces at her feet, a reminder that she would always be what they had told her she would always be. A failure. She arose and limped toward one of the few familiar faces alive. Elizabeth. Her mentor. Pölarisia asked Elizabeth with a question of hope in her eyes. Elizabeth simply returned one of sorrow and pity. Her heart shattered, into a million pieces that could never be put together again. Gone. Forever. She stifled a sob. “How…did he…die?” “No child. The question is how did he live.” She felt trapped, but she had been trapped before, but this time she was trapped alone…alone with the constant companion of guilt. The guilt of blood. The guilt of betrayal. The guilt of all guilt… a friend’s guilt. “Who am I?” She asked toward the heavens. “Was I a friend?” “Was I a traitor?” “Was I a lover?” “Or was I a monster?”

His place was in an asylum, he was cold, violent, and he couldn't find any pleasure in life since all he had known since he was 7 was pain and suffering. But he was my brother, and he died fighting for what we believed like a true soldier. He didn't save anyone that night, even though he had saved many others several times. He just died knowing he had dedicated his life for a battle that was worth it for it was our duty to fight for those who couldn't. We were young but we were soldiers. And he died as a true warrior, and lived as a hero.

He didn't necessarily die. He's still alive. But over the course of his existence, the good in him was what died. He wanted to hold onto it, so he did with all the feverish belief he saw everyone else have. But in the end, he knew, that the good in the world was no more. Why should bother being something no one understood? So, while he is alive, he is also dead. Just on the insode, rather than being truly dead.

Their eyes met, perhaps for the last time. Stars aligned for the death of another star. "It is for your own sake." He whispered as He locked the door to their room. "This war is over: For I'll finish it with my own hands." His Lover shouted, but He ignored. His chest tightened, for He hated this as much as him. "No more pain" A pause. "No more suffering" This silence was perhaps too loud for His own liking. "You will finally be free...! Heh..." A single tear fell with a sad chuckle as He turned his back and left the house, muting His ears to the pleads of his lover. He was going to save the world, but why did He feel so sad about all of this? Why did He choose this path to begin with? Why did He have to leave? He had convinced Himself he was ready to sacrifice his mind and body to save the one He loved, but why didn't His feet move? Why was His body betraying Him? Why was He so afraid? Why were His hands shaking so much? His Lover was finally going to be happy, and the war was finally going to be over, but why couldn't he move? No, this was not the time to question Himself. He had to keep moving, for the sake of His Lover. And the World. "I am sorry." He whispered to the stars in the night sky as he forced himself to smile. He walked alone into the battlefield, where the Queen waited for those who dared to challenge her. He smiled and braced Himself to his meeting with Death. "Farewell, my one and only love." His voice cracked as He said His final words. A large explosion was heard as a bright light blinded all those who could see it. Once it had disappeared, a single, lonely, star flied up to the starry night sky. Their bodies turned to pure ash, leaving nothing behind but the marks of His demise. The wind howled and carried them away, the earth silently crying as the sky began to weep. The door to their room was finally opened after what seemed like an eternity. The Lover couldn't care less about who had opened it. He had to get to Him. He NEEDED to help Him. The thought of losing Him made his head spin and stomach churn. His legs hurt as the taste of iron became stronger and stronger with each step he took, but he couldn't stop. He needed to get to Him, he NEEDED Him. He ran into the center of the explosion, heart pounding on his chest as his knees failed to support him, tired and aching from so much running. But... Where was He...? "Where is He?" The lover asked the wind. "WHERE IS HE?" He shouted, heart pounding in his chest. He looked around, and there was no sign of his Love. A gentle hand rested on his shoulder as a calm voice whispered into the dead of night. "I'm sorry for your loss, old friend." Low enough to be muffled by the rain, but loud enough to echo in his head. The Lover's head began to spin, He couldn't be dead. He had to be somewhere around. It couldn't be true. It couldn't. How could He leave him to fare in this world? How could He recklessly go into the face of danger every single time he asked Him not to? How could He lock him up so He could go into battle? Why did He do it? Why was He always so stubborn? Why was it so hard to get Him to understand? Why was he so fucking selfless? Why was He so kind to him if he was going to betray him like this? Why did He whisk him away all for themselves if He was going to leave like that? Why did they spend so much time together, laughing and loving? Was it all for nothing? Did he open up his heart only to be stabbed? Why did He leave him? Why couldn't he ask for help? Why did them choose to leave? Why wasn't there another option? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? _Why? Why? Why? Why?!_ Tears flowed freely as his heart sped up. He felt like puking. His head was spinning, and his ears began to ring loudly. Air escaped his lungs as he lunged at his Old Friend, fists closing tightly against the clothes on their chest. He was panting, struggling to breathe. The pain couldn't be clearer in his voice. "Tell me how he died." The lover whispered as he choked on his own tears. "PLEASE" He begged his friend. He couldn't bear to think he lost him. He couldn't. He prayed to the stars to give him back. He prayed it was just a good old prank, and that everything would go back to normal after this. "I can't hear you." The Old friend said calmly, and The Lover couldn't stop himself from shouting, the remaining air in his lungs leaving all at once. "TELL ME HOW HE DIED." ... Hey! Just wanted to say that I felt a bit inspired by this playlist. I had a writer's block, and these songs helped me to overcome it. Thank you. Have a great day!

On that last charge...my lordship cut my saddle loose and as i dropped off all i could see was his face ...and the word...live...that day i watched as they smashed into the enemy and were engulfed buying the others just enough time to retreat in good order...their last stand went on for only precious minutes an entire generation of knights gone...lost defending those who may of may not have deserved it...days after the battle was over i went to look for him only to find him surrounded by corpses and run through...he died standing...his honor and ideals intact...a good ending...to a fine man....so now...i tend to him...as i did in his life...i wrappped him...buried him in his armor...and i prayed for him

This came up on my “For you” page right as I was sitting down to confirm a character’s death in my own story 😅 Listened to it while I wrote the scene where the MMC found out that his father was killed shortly after MMC and FMC fled the kingdom about 8-9 months earlier

@Naohmcete left a comment and said Quote, " No.... I will tell you how he LIVED"! ... Unquote, That should be the next title for a second track sequeled towards this first epic musical score which is now titled " Tell me how he died"! ❤
