I had a restaurant on Durban beachfront many years ago. A waitress introduced me to this album. It became a favourite of mine. I had the LP and the cd. Now I listen online. An absolute gem!

@@malcolmgerald A little of the radar, but give the 1978 Mark-Almond album "Other Peoples Rooms" a listen, a really good album, also with the Drummer Steve Gadd doing service, a little known gem of an album - Stay safe during this Covid-19 stuff
@boombabiesrrd4 жыл бұрын
Bruce Margot I had a vinyl LP record of Mark-Almond’s “Other People’s Rooms”. Released in 1978 (I think) & produced by Tommy LiPuma (the man who produced George Benson’s first 4 albums for Warner Bros., Michael Franks’ first 2 or 3 Warner albums & so many other commercially successful records). I sold that Mark-Almond LP back in the ‘90s, tho. Then when I had a chance to buy a CD of Other People’s Rooms in South Korea in 2003, I passed it up. It was too expensive. I think the album’s can be heard here on KZbin & probably on Spotify :)

@@pbastien5041 Glad you found it again, most people have never heard of it, but is still one of my favorite albums, and seen you like it, another off the radar hidden gem of a album I love - Jimmy Little "Messenger" (1999), very smooth, beautifully produced, backing musicians really good, and Jimmy's voice just floats me away, give it a listen and hope you enjoy

I bought this many decades ago. Exited initially by the folk listed in the sleeve notes. It cost me a fortune, being a Japanese import double LP. Due to the unknown and cost I had this alien compulsion to like it anyway. Unpacked it, listened to it , absolutely loved it. A quantum leap in listening for me at the time. It is priceless (smile).

I first heard cuts from this album on a jazz radio program called, "Dan's Thing" ( Dan Howard was the DJ) After hearing it I just had to have it! All these decades later it's probably my favorite album. Hearing it just makes me happy. I wish I'd been there to hear it all go down live. Must have been incredible.

I had this 2-LP record set all those years ago (from 1980 to mid-90s). Never got a CD of it which surely was available in Japan & probably in the U.S., too. This was Sadao Watanabe’s first record for Columbia Records (U.S.), an unheard-of double LIVE album! Sadao previously recorded many albums for the Japan Victor Company, the JVC label (which was also a Japanese brand of audio-video electronic appliances).
