fr it happened to me in a tourney a week ago, it was my last game i was winning in a rook endgame up 4 pawns and if i won that game i won the whole thing, but i played too fast and accidentally let him promote, so frustrating 😭

@@chess210it happns. Next time take a deep breath and find your center. The natural instinct when winning is to conserve energy and let off the gas because the brain is tired after achieving a won position. You think you can make little concessions and those can snowball into a draw or even loss. Your focus will cut in half naturally, so manually try to double your focus and calculate thoroughly.

@@elifopfn since bishop is now covering G8 pragg can not check the king out of the way of the pawn on 3g, so the pawn will eventually reach queening. Best Pragg can do is probably play the rook back to H1 and stopp promotion, but by doing so he will lose his other rook... So its completely lost

And this is why chess is a game of nerves and why you never resign. Pragg was at +3, a huge advantage. But after his first blunder he went to +0, completely equal. And just two moves later he had a second blunder and he was at -a lot. Rapport could have resigned before and lost the match, by keeping up the pressure he got a surprising win. Blunders happen, never resign.
