@Kalindu Dissanayake The Sinhalese don't have their own place. At least Tamils have a state and have diaspora all over the world (100 million people). That's why the government was hell bent on continuing to fight the war and refused all proposals from the LTTE to have a separate state under common Sri Lankan government. Think about it, if they agreed to create a separate state and have councilors represent the Tamil state of Eelam then war would be over...but then Sinhalese can't claim to be the owners of an island. They even hated the fact that 33% are Tamils so they split up Tamil population demographics by religion (Muslim), interracial marriages (burghers) and origin (Indian Tamils) and burnt the Jaffna Library containing ancient Tamil literature proving that Tamils were the original inhabitants of the island.

A country is a larger entity that encompasses independent states. It is typically run by representatives from these independent states. The country can pass laws after votes from all representatives to govern all the independent states of a country. But, yes, the way Sri Lankan government is operating is not how most other democratic countries in the world run their government.

So, yes, at the end LTTE was among them but we support them because their intention was never to hurt innocent tamils, unlike SLA’s intentions. When the SLA bombed our schools, hospitals, temples, orphanages and villages, LTTE protected us and fought them. And why we hate the SLA and SL government, and for denying it later. Let me get the facts straight:- Captain Prabhakaran was a true fighter who was true to his cause. He fought for his people, as any of us would. His people were being persecuted, killed in their own nation. Being a Tamil is not only something that is associated with a language but an ethnic minority who existed as one of the most ancient people in the world. Why don't people compare the LTTE with the Irgun and stern groups of Israel? The Sinhalas were cruel murders who attempted to wipe a whole ethnic minority. This was a holocaust the world never cared about. The Tamils fought so that their great language which lasted for thousands of years on this planet would still exist in their motherland, yet many countries call the LTTE a terrorist organization. Captain Prabhakaran was not a cold-blooded terrorist like Osama bin laden who ended up running and hiding his whole life. Captain Prabhakaran fought for his comrades to death, and he faced his death like a man, like a tiger. Captain had his own army, not like the cowards in the middle east. Captain fought the Sinhala army with an army, not rag-tag grunts like SriLanka has today. Even the Sri Lankans accepted that they would have lost the war if India and the other countries had not intervened to support Sri Lanka. The world cheated Prabhakaran, by labeling him as a terrorist. It is true he had a suicide squad called the black tigers. It was a guerilla technique. So did many other pro-independence suicide bombers as the ETA had. Yet the world looks at him as a coward.
