I always think about my mom when I see this video. My dad cheated on her and left her when I was 2, and I have a brother and sister that are 5-6 years older then me. The amount of energy she put in us for 10 years is CRAZY! She was always so sweet and loving, she had 2 jobs, we always had clean clothes, good freshly cooked food, presents when it was our bday, we even went even on vacation once! And the crazy part is she is so humble, she thinks she's not good at anything.. I sometimes tell her that if she put the time and energy that she put into us into something else she would be the top 1% in whatever field. But i'm happy that she put that effort into being the best mom

Your a great son for those words and she sounds alot like my ex after 25 years she moved on. Wow your father should be ashamed of himself. Sadly so many children see only sorrow when there is a bitter divorce. and if your a adult now and have had a relationship or two. You understand that there complex ..and there are two sides to every story . It's my belief that there's nobody on the planet that would leave a woman that you just described for nothing at all. let that sink in for a minute.

I can sit here and proudly say my mother is the strongest person I know. Single mother who had to take a lot of abuse from my dad before he passed and she raised me and my 2 brothers very well. Always giving 110% to provide and put all of us through school and instilled good morals too. We wouldn't be the men we are today without her. I feel you on that one.

+supastar And you saying that your mom appreciate it alot. The pain a woman has to take (infidelity, abuse, disrespect) just to keep her family and child afloat is one powerful thing. Because she doesn't have to take that, but women of the previous generation did for their children. And, that is beautiful. I dedicate your paragraph that you dedicated to your mom to mines because she too went through the same thing just to raise us.

Dear Sade, How this song and video of yours pierced through my heart. I went through the same phase in life as a single mother. I performed nightly on stage w my band to make a living and feed my 2 baby girls. One was 3 & the other one was only 6 months then. I had to bring them to my gigs coz I had no one to babysit them for me. Those times were so hard, but as a mother, you have to forget how tired you are, who you are. As a mother, you have to forget the man you loved that broke your heart & left you alone to battle life's war. And just have to keep going so the children never go hungry. I love this song of yours so much, still brings tears to my eyes. Still a strong reminder of the painful past that I survived. 💜

It got me through the most difficult time in my life, loosing my mom at age 14, being a black girl dealing with depression in early 2000s where depression was a "white" illness, even I didn't understand what I was going through but I felt that I was the king of sorrow as I had never experienced such pain and didn't believe anyone has ever went through it. I sure did pay for all my future sins in those times as now at 29 Im blessed with good health, a job, I got myself a house, which I'm very proud of as even my mom and dad never owned a house, so this is a break of a pattern and I am very happy with how I've turned out and even if I got a chance to go back and change something, I wouldn't. It was all worth it

I have always thought Sade is the most beautiful woman in the world. There is something about her- something that no other woman has. Her her vocals, her lyrics, her gracefulness- they pull you in (very pleasantly). She is the one singer who just takes you to another place, without you even realizing it. Her music surrounds you, and you find yourself somewhere else. I have seen her live twice- she looks just as beautiful, if not more, as she does in her videos. And she was incredibly gracious- as if it was her privilege to sing for us, not our privilege to be fortunate enough to hear her sing. Very classy.

M&M I couldn't have said it better. It's something about her gaze as she looks into the camera. She has such a passionate and hypnotizing voice also. I played this song dozens of times just to look into those eyes and watch her dance on stage in that black dress at the end.

Many people think sorrow is an illness needed to be cured with cheering up or something. When in actual fact, it's a valid emotion, probably more so than happiness. Depression is an entirely different thing. That's when you don't care about anyone or anything. And the world is a miserable place; lost to you. Sadness is realizing just how special the world is.. And the pain that comes from loosing an important part of it. It's beautiful. And this artist has captured that perfectly :)
@johnzaldivar55111 жыл бұрын
Hey there Kindle, Sade...good song, very sad isn't it? How about Sade The Artist? She has to be The Prettiest Singer of all Time, probably the prettiest face on the face of this Earth. As confusing, as your comment seems to me, one thing for sure is you have good taste in Sades Poetry...If she helps to get past the emotion level, now you 'see' emotion is also just a thought, a memory, think Happy, smile, peace.
@domdittyful11 жыл бұрын
wow that was a incredible statement I always feel like that but I'm glad I found a person who was able to put it prospective for me.
@therealkindle536511 жыл бұрын
Dom Jenkins It's a very dangerous thing to do; stop someone from being sad. It inevitably ends in them become depressed if there's something wrong with it. I believe that's what happened to Nick Drake. A young man who desperately searched for sad music to connect with, but at that time there really wasn't any. Not in the 60's. So he created his own albums of solace. With numbers such as "Parasite", "Way to Blue", "Fruit Tree", "Day is Done", "Riverman" & the ever haunting "Black Eyed Dog" which is what Winston Churchill called depression. Once you hear the ending to that story, it becomes even more tragic.
@MrChristopher071011 жыл бұрын
***** I rather agree much of that... sadness and depression can (and do) overlap, however. It makes no sense to try to stop someone being 'sad' or down - when, quite often, being sad is a quite normal response to events or a set of circumstances.

This song helped me deal with the earth-shattering breakup of my first real relationship. "I'm crying everyone's tears" ... "I wonder if this grief will ever let me go" couldn't be more on point. The only part I disagree with is that "nothing's any good"... thank God, no matter how bad it gets I have a roof over my head and food on the table, and I have to remember to be grateful for all my blessings. Pain, sorrow, grief, loss. All part of life. But no matter how bad things get, *something* is always good.

Rest in peace, you did great, and I'm OK and a momma myself now I love you. 😭😭😭 When you have to be the queen AND the king of the house for whatever reason. You never stop, always on the go, day after day. And you love your babies, would do anything for them, but still its hard. The struggle, the strife living pay check to pay check teetering on poverty. So glad you honored your mother this way. My kids seemed to never understand the sacrifice. They have rejected me i feel because i was poor but i asked Yahuweh to help me because i didnt know how or what i would do with little money. But Yahuweh helped me help them with prayers and he showed me in dreams and visions of them both how they would be very sucessful. Now my son is a microbiologist for the FDA never calls me. I never get to see my grandkids unless he comes to see his sister my daughter. She very successful as well. Big BEAUTIFUL home she had built from the ground up. Shes a licensed security broker for Merryl Lynch. She goes alll over the country sold her e business to people in Japan and been there 2x with her husband and daughter going again for 2020 Olympics . This not cheap. Oh sure they never come to my house i live in the same town as my daughter. Only comes so i can watch my granddaughter in the summer then they come and get her in the evenings . The Lord had told me that they have rejected Him and not me. I love t he Lord and taught them about the love that saved me. Its ok ive made peace about it, but it sure is nice to hear you honor your mom in this way even though she didnt have much you understood. God will surely bless you child be looking for it. Shalom

For all parents, it's hard. Very true, but when you have to hold it down alone, even more so. Growing up with a divorced mother who worked 3 jobs so she wouldn't have to step foot in the welfare office, while helping her 2 oldest pay for and finish college...yeah. In some ways, being a single mother (or father) is extra hard.

You are right Jodi. Of course it's harder. How can it not be ? Another Family can also have an equally wonderful Mother but IN ADDITION to that have all the wonderful Male input as well giving emotional and practical and financial support to the family. It has to be a better family model .

I was around back in the 80's when Sade was around as well. She was overshadowed by Madonna, Michael Jackson, Van Halen, Depeche Mode, et al. But her music is timeless. Always a class act. It wasn't about her which is why she was overshadowed. She didn't need to perform in lingerie which seemed to be the thing back in the 80's for female artists. And the songs-like this one--deep. These songs have aged like fine wine.
