Remove this ivy! Even if it looks nice, it is the worst thing for buildings with brickwork. Its shoots penetrate the mortar and break it up, allowing water to get in and cause major damage. It is a lot of work because every joint has to be checked, but in the long run it is worth it, both visually and financially. Do it before you start working on the inside, otherwise you will trap the moisture in the brickwork. This work is unpleasant, but important in the long run. But don't let it stress you out and have fun renovating. So far you are doing a great job!

You should probably remove all the shutters and bring them inside so you can work on repairing and painting them over the winter. It will also allow you to clean the sides of the building with a jet washer without having to constantly open and close them. Also will be more handy for Stan and Johnny to repoint them with lime, with the shutters out of their way. You can put them back in place in teh sporing when they have all been repaired and painted; bringing a fresh look to the Cahteau. Also it might be easier to have Sadie's Dad come over with his machines and just remove all of the bushed etc from aroiund teh chateau--in fact tear up all the grounds completely so you can access the land to replant it in the spring. By removing it now, you will be able to see the new growth of the brush in the spring more easily to remove the final brambles. Then it will also be very easy to plant your garden early once spring comes. ♥

My dealings with Wisteria has been, and is, a continuing nightmare!!! A property owner bordering my home and property planted it and then moved away. Leaving a terribly invasive mess that is trying its best to take over my yard. I cannot get rid of it. It’s covering their land and also my lawn. It’s climbing their trees and mine, killing them causing me to periodically deal with falling trees and limbs into and over my driveway. I’m 74 and this has been my most horrible nightmare and is more than I can deal with on my own . I cannot for the life of me see why anyone who has ever seen how invasive it is could possibly want it. It’s beautiful but, NOT THAT BEAUTIFUL TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH ITS INVASIVE TENDENCIES!!! Instead of “buyer beware”-“planter/grower BEWARE”!!! Pray yours is not the same variety!!😏 Love you and Stan. Look forward to your videos.

Guys - wisteria will come back after getting cut down, just be patient. It will take 2 -3 years for it to get large enough to bloom again. It is a very strong plant and can damage buildings, just be sure it is trained to climb so as not to damage the house. Love your content and of course, music is a nice touch - differentiates you guys from everyone else. Cheers!
