Absolutely love this! I try to do similar stuff on my channel

Sure. It's really helpful when you need a modern sound from an old pasive bass.

I'm in doubt between the Sadowsky SBP1 and the MXR M80, which one does it indicate?
@Farewelltokingz2 жыл бұрын
The sadowsky has more character in it, the M80 is more versatile if you don’t have a distortion, and is basically just a 3 band eq cut/boost
@nognir6169 Жыл бұрын
They serve different purposes. The Sadowsky is meant to act as the onboard eq preamp which boosts specific bands (Treble/Bass) but not the main volume, which the MXR does. I use both (Sadowsky SPB-2, placed first in my pedalboard, and MXR M81, placed last). Both are great, but if you have to pick on just one, it should be the MXR as it's a fuller package. And if you're not keen on the M80's overdrive, go for the M81 as it's much better on the EQ, which explains why it's more expensive.

Hi sounding very clean and defined! I am thinking of converting my passive MIM Jazz to Sadowsky pre. How did you do the mod to relocate the lead connector towards the bottom of the bass body? TIA
@MarcG7424 Жыл бұрын
Why not just buy the Sadowsky preamp pedal a lot less headaches than converting a passive to an active 1. Making control cavity big enough to accept a 9v battery 2. If it's a front input jack you have to reroute it to the side which requires more body mods

@@MarcG7424 Thanks a lot. That's my worry was too. DO you think, external preamp box is equivalent to the onboard pre?

@@izziOnBass The Sadowsky pedals are definitely the same as their on-board equivalent they were created just for situations like this

Oh another advantage is even if you have a active bass as long as it has a passive mode you can still use the pedal

On the one hand the usefulness of a DI is clear, either to not carry an amplifier or to back it up in the event that it breaks down during transport or performance. What I am not so clear about and let's see if you can give us your opinion, is whether a preamp like this (or other similar ones on the market) is worth it if we use heads or combos with a valve preamp (in my case Bugera Veyron T and Hughes & Kettner Quantum Q310, I'm not telling you who has a Mesa or really high-end gadgets). Is a pedal preamp worth it in that case? I'm very confused about it. I gràcies pel video!

In my opinion I would use it to transform a passive bass into an active one if needed. I mean if you are playing with a passive Jazz Bass and you need an extra boost and punch, you can use it. But is your bass is already active, adding this would be too much,

Sounds better with the pre off. If you want an active Sadowsky bass buy one. Active circuits sound better as part of the circuit inside the bass with very little distance of cloth covered wire between the pre and the pickups - literally as part of the circuit inside the bass. Adding a Sadowsky pre after is a botch job imho, and it never sounds as good.
@RobMLyon Жыл бұрын
I have both and see your point, but it’s a small marginal difference between both

He's supposed to have the volume on the pedal all the way up for unity gain equal to the pedal in OFF. Would also not recommend bass and treble above the 11 o'clock position for normal playing.
