Just watched/listened again. That is a fine sounding bass.

Excellent review!! You gave a great description of the bass, and your sound demonstration was the best I've seen on KZbin. Thank you! I play a 2018 Sadowsky Satin J. My favorite setting is: both pickups, 100% tone, 10% bass boost, 20% treble boost. You did give me some ideas to try though.

Super bass, congrats ! I love the color combination with binding and block inlays. And that 70's Jazz Bass tone ! If only I was right-handed ah ah...

Hey, what a great video ! Just a question, can you tell the difference between the UV70 and the MV4 ?
@TylerSpicer2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and the kind words! Yes! Definitely a little warmer in the low mids and Jaco-esque on the bridge pickup. I’ve come to realise the 70s position it really one of ‘my’ sounds and what makes this bass unique in my hands.

@@TylerSpicer thank you for your answer ! One last question, how the U neck feel ? I just bought a fender jazz bass 62 American vintage, and it hurts a little after few minutes playing it. I'm afraid this one might do the same

@@TheCrushiii Super comfortable. It's the bass I've owned the longest, and I always come back to it and I'm super happy and confident playing it. I feel like I can do things on this bass I wouldn't try on another.

I have a quick question about the Sadowsky pre-amp. When you're changing between active and passive, does doing this cause much of a volume difference between active or passive? I know I'm some instruments there's a huge change, and on others there's almost none.
@TylerSpicer2 жыл бұрын
There’s definitely a noticeable volume drop, but not drastic, maybe 6db or so! T

It sounds how a jazz bass should sound. I have to admit that I don't have a very good relation with Sadowsky. My bass teacher allowed me to play his NYC Sadowsky bass at a jam once. It was like a 3000€ jazz bass. And I hated it. I didn't like it at all. I prefered (and still prefer) my Fender MIJ jazz bass. However, the sound samples of your video sounded pretty awesome. I may have to try them again...

Another excellent review! So strange seeing you play a non-Fender, but that tone was killer!

The neck pickup at 100% sounds very similar to a precision split coil.
@Cap683 Жыл бұрын
The Metroline pickups are a split coil design.

Without a doubt it is an excellent brand that builds very well made tools, but I do not like imitations of fender historians, there are other brands that have given a personalized to their tools, if I want to buy a bass that looks like a Fender I directly buy a real Fender, this is my personal opinion....
@msimsy2 жыл бұрын
I agree with you but hats off to Roger because he was one of if not the first to introduce how much better a Fender can be. And it was only out of necessity that he had to make a “copy” because the studios at the time did not accept any other bass. And the mods and repair work he did to vintage Fenders devalued them.
@edennard12 жыл бұрын
Ironic that you said what a Fender could be , well I have both and they are truly very different in every way. The Sadowsky is a bit punchier and cleaner but it’s never going to sound like my 74 Jazz Bass.. or my Fender V String Ultra, however my Sadowsky does gets the Lion’s share of the work..mainly because it’s lighter and sits very very well in the mix .
@Cap683 Жыл бұрын
@@edennard1 I Agree with that statement. I got my Metroline yesterday. It is what it is and will never sound like my American Jazz Pro II. The Fender has a much more "organic" sound. The Metroline is very versatile and can do a lot of things that the Fender cannot but it cannot sound like a passive Fender Jazz Bass.
