Hello & thankyou for your tutorial, I have a Saeco Intelia HD8752 about 11 years old with the following issue: If the unit hasn’t been used for a few hours or the power plug is unplugged and plugged back in again, upon power-up, the automatic rinse cycle starts as it should: You can hear the pump groaning, sounds like it is blocked. This automatic start up rinse is either very slow with little intermittent hot drips taking many minutes for the cycle to complete - which then leads to normal use. OR No automatic start up rinse drips and therefore the process fails entering into ‘prime mode’ which also fails & leads to an unusable ‘maintenance spanner symbol’ code 5. The only way to bypass this is to unplug and re-plug in the power plug, power-up the unit, then as it tries to perform the automatic rinse cycle, manually press the STOP option to bypass the automatic rinse and then the machine can be used as normal & makes great coffee. Note: The above symptom’s got worse after I performed a de-scale cycle, which failed at the end with of the final rinse / prime - but fully worked up until that final point. Maybe there is lime scale lodged in one of the following places: 1. Boiler 2. Solenoid valve 3. Steam & water regulator Note: This is strange because it is 100% possible to run the manual rinse cycle as per the instructions: Press the ‘pre-ground’ coffee button (with no coffee in it), then press the coffee / memo button and it does a big hot rinse no problems at all. Also, after use, when the unit is powered off, it performs a small rinse cycle with continuous hot running water coming out the dispenser, but only for a very short time. I have totally re-built the brewing unit per various KZbin demonstrations with new stainless steel plunger screen + plunger o-ring, disassembled & blasted out all the tiny holes in the plastic plunger, made sure all the elbows and holes are clear and clean, installed the valve spring and glass ball correctly, greased all the o-rings, sliders and pivots. I have also fully taken apart the dispenser locater under the LCD display, disconnected the tube that connects to the brew unit, blasted water + compressed air through it so that it is 100% clear. Fully internally cleaned out the dispenser unit. I have calibrated the coffee grinding unit. The other issue I have is that that GREEN does not work on the LCD display - however I can still faintly see the LCD instructions - enough to get by. I haven’t run the LCD display diagnostics because that is too difficult to see / follow. But it seem like the pump + grinder & heater all work. I have disconnected & reconnected the LCD & checked the other wires, but can’t see any damage. Years ago the green would flicker on every now and then, but dead these days..

I had the spanner 5 red icon . I googled these instructions, I turned machine off and on for about 10 times , as my machine hadn't been used for over 1 year , and it was air locked . By turning it off and on , the machine was forcing the air out each time and pumping the water through the pipes even though the red icon spanner kept showing after each attempt . Thankfully it worked BACK TROUBLESHOOT My Saeco Espresso Machine is showing an error code If your Saeco Espresso Machine runs into an error, a red display appears with an icon image, together with a code number, such as 01, 03, 04, 05, 11, 14 or 19. Below you will find what the error codes mean and how to solve them. Please note that if your espresso machine is showing any other error codes not mentioned above, we advise that you contact us for further assistance as your machine might need to be serviced.Error Code 01: The coffee grinder cannot work properlyWhen the E01 code appears, it indicates that the coffee grinder cannot work properly because of a coffee funnel blocked with ground coffee. To fix this, unblock the coffee funnel and perform extra cleaning with a vacuum cleaner. Follow the steps below: 1. Switch the machine OFF and wait until it is completely off and does not make any more noises (this takes about 15-20 seconds) 2. Remove the brew group 3. Open the lid of the pre-ground coffee funnel and place the spoon handle into the funnel. If there is no pre-ground coffee funnel, insert the spoon handle into the coffee funnel from below. 4. Move the handle up and down until the clogged ground coffee falls down. Some force may be required. 5. Remove all fallen ground coffee with a vacuum cleaner 6. Clean the coffee funnel by sucking the ground coffee from it with a vacuum cleaner. 7. Place back the brew group, switch the machine back ON and brew an espresso. 8. After brewing, check if the funnel is still free from ground coffee. If not, repeat the unblocking procedure. Please note that to prevent the coffee funnel from getting blocked, water should not be poured or spilled into the coffee bean container. It is also important to clean the coffee funnel weekly. Unblocking the Saeco Espresso coffee funnel Error Code 03: The brew group is dirtyIf the code E03 appears, the brew group contains too much dirt and cannot work properly. Please follow the instructions below to rinse the brew group and solve the issue. 1. Switch OFF the machine and wait until it is completely off and does not make any more noises (this takes about 15-20 seconds). 2. Open the service door and remove the brew group by pressing the "PUSH" button to the right side, hold it and pull it towards you. 3. Rinse the brew group thoroughly with lukewarm water. 4. Grease the brew unit. 5. Let the brew group air dry and then place it back. Error Code 04: The brew group is not well insertedWhen the E04 code appears, the brew group is not in place or not placed correctly. To resolve this, open the service door of the machine and push the brew group into place. When it is correctly inserted, you will hear a click.Error Code 05: Air is trapped in the water circuitTo release the air from your Saeco Coffee Machine, follow the steps below: 1. Switch OFF the machine 2. Empty the water tank and remove the AquaClean or any other water filter 3. Fill the water tank with water and place it back in position 4. Switch the machine back ON. When the machine has heated up, select hot water and dispense 2-3 cups of hot water If you use an AquaClean water filter, follow these extra steps to make sure that the filter is prepared and correctly installed for use: 1. Shake the AquaClean water filter for 5 seconds 2. Hold the filter upside down in a container/bowl with water until no more air bubbles come out 3. Place the filter back into the water tank and fill the water tank with water 4. Restart the machine and switch it off and back on 5. Select hot water and dispense 2-3 cups of hot water

Thanks for doing this video. I made the mistake of running my water tank dry and got the dreaded Red Wrench symbol. After following your instructions and cycling the machine on off, etc. the machine started working again. I've saved this video for when I will likely have to replace the water pump.

This method also worked for my Saeco Syntia, so thanks very much for posting this video. Going through the symptoms in the diagnostic mode was key, since at an early stage I had thought that the pump *had* to be OK, since I could still steam milk and push out hot water. But now that I swapped in the new machine, it works like a charm. Again, many thanks!

When you go to the bomb menu, the screen turns red. I have the same problem that no water comes out, but when I do the test the screen never turns red, does that mean that the pump is fine and is it another problem?

is there 2 pumps? I get water (sort of) when I run Work, but no water in Home. Is it a single pump or two different pumps?
@markofixitvideo868514 күн бұрын
there is only one pump, it just gets weak over time as the seals inside wear out and fail

Thanks for the video! I have a similar but slightly different issue: when I run the test, it works fine with EV2 on (the water dispenser) but barely runs water when EV1 is on (the espresso mode). The liters/ hour goes between 12 and 18 for the Ayer dispenser but not above 7 for the espresso. Is it the same pump issue then? Should I just replace it like you do? Thank you so much for your help
@markofixitvideo86853 жыл бұрын
most likely the pump in your case too, it is a cheap replacement and a wear item at the end of the day so i would just replace it. sorry for the slow reply!

Why can the machine still pump water trough the steam pipe if the pump is the problem?

@@douglascochen5918 I have the same problem today. I solved my problem very easy - just do calc clean program in menu

sorry for the slow reply, but the pump impeller does not seal against the pump housing perfectly, and over time this impeller/housing wears, meaning the pump can put less pressure out, as water 'leaks' back past the impeller. That is why it works on the steam pipe but not the espresso side where more pressure is required.

Different action. Ours worked fine during coffee making, but not during the initial flush cycle. As it happens, the flush cycle pulses the pump 50/50, to loosen any debris, but that half-power operation wasn't enough to spin the weak pump. So it's not a binary works/broken thing, there's indeed a grey area.
@johnnyashtray5 жыл бұрын
Isn't that the heater? The pump is the little round white thing underneath that thing.
@alexm45155 жыл бұрын
No the little round thing is a reservoir. He replaced the pump. There is a similar item at the top of the machine and it's role is to direct the water to the coffee or hot water tip.

My pump is working and I can make coffee but when I try & get steam nothing happening, the pump sounds like its working overtime, any suggestions ?
@markofixitvideo86854 жыл бұрын
there is a solenoid that switches between steam and coffee mode, that might be dead. in the 'diagnostic menu' you can test that if i remember correctly.
