Dude, thank you so much for putting out this method. I am most interested in PVM and have literally never done any sort of tick manipulation but I think this is officially my gateway. I watch lots of your videos and really love your podcasts so I have been wanting to try tick manipulation for a while and just started today. To be completely honest, mining is still kind of a means to an end for me but my gosh those xp rates are so satisfying. And I’ve heard you say many times how it feels really good to click a resource and immediately get it and you are absolutely right. Thanks again for putting this out man. Really appreciate the value you add to the Osrs community! 😊

actually not against this spell idea, id like to see it have a good cooldown tho. 21ticks, same as magic imbue, would still need for a couple ores to be dropped to not like make every skilling method click spell simulator. i think no bonus smithing xp is better for a tradeoff than a heavy rune cost. personally hate when spells have obnoxious rune costs like 12 blood/souls to them

I like disintegrate as an idea. You're also totally right that skilling sucks because you never gain anything other than xp. It would be fun to have more skilling drops. There's progression, like forestry. There's also a reason people prefer the skilling bosses etc. Really at this point i don't see a good reason not to pay a price to note the item at a nearby npc like sandstone etc. While we are at it just make all rocks but rune and Iron/sandstone/ granite/gems act like trees or adjust the success and respawn rates. Id also be for a total revamp/ rework of mining where its kinda skilling dungeoneering expert you're exploring/ digging a mine shaft to find ores etc, higher levels let you go deeper etc. Rooms you find are filled with 10 rocks they all give 10x xp and ores in your "dungeon loot" then if you make it out you keep them. Puzzles and stuff along the way. Have traps, tick based obstacles which damage you, maybe falling rocks from the ceiling which can hit you/ gas which you have to pay attention to/ take poison damage if you dont wear the gas mask. Different mine shafts have different ores, maybe some more dangerous routes offering xp but less rewards, slower routes offering more loot

As someone who just did this from lvl 66-68 and know I did it right, I can confirm if your mining lvl was also low you may have been doing it right. It was just not possible to get more than 60k/h at lvl 67-68 with this method.

I couldn't agree more on the topic of moving towards methods that allow you to bank materials. As I've been playing an ironman for the first time, I've gone out of my way to do less efficient methods for this exact purpose.

And is there actually a problem with that? You're sacrificing xp in order to gather resources. Seems like a solid balance. Why should the game suddenly be balanced around achieving both at the same time? You picked up ironman for a reason. For mains, alting during 4g is very doable and you can easily make 500k-1.5m/h during the skill depending on the effort you want to put in.

It bewilders me that you guys are trying to change the last bit of Old School feel we have left in this game to get 1% of redditers to try 4g for an hour and quit. How is all the updates that have came into this game not enough for you? Blast mine, VM, MLM updated to the moon, shooting stars, gem mining. 4g has gotten astronomically easier with plugins and updates. Why can't you just do VM and get 90-105k/h and be happy with that? Why do you guys need to get that extra 25k/h and ruin this meta. You are taking all skill out of 4g if you remove dropping.

​@@Budabaii What do you mean tough guy? I was hoping you would actually respond to my questions. I am genuinely curious if you have tried VM, gem mining, or blast mine? That sounds up your alley for what you're looking for. I don't think it's unreasonable to think that if you can get 105k/h at VM where you're not dropping and not putting any strain on your wrist, you don't need to remove all skill from 4g by removing dropping. For what it's worth, disintegrate as it stands wouldn't do that. But based on your comments (and others in the comment section) it sounds like you would prefer it to nuke the whole inventory of rocks/fish/logs. This video and this push to "save skilling" seems to be targeted at star miners so that's what I'm talking about when I say reddit.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but I play a lot of mobile in addition to PC and I find it frustrating that I can’t do many tick manip methods well due to the weird tick delay of the tap to drop function, but this method doesn’t actually require tapping items in your inventory as well as dropping, so this is extremely viable on mobile as an alternative to 3t4g. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the great video, might check this out soon. Need 6 levels for max cape and was thinking about gemstones or blast mining since you do profit some from it, but this could save some time to do some bossing after getting the cape. Also having a Lunar spell like that would be a nice progression from shift drop and now menu-entry swapper. I was just thinking how far the game has gone too since the old days, I can't ever imagine going back to the old right and left click to drop items.

How about letting the Disintegrate spell give you granite dust so you get some of that "banking reward" from Mining, and so that we have another source of it.

Mining solved, tyvm. @80 mining, all things point to VM. However the Discord everyone suggests is dead. The minigame fc is empty, and mass worlds are utter chaos (no one knows how to play it). Disintegrate is a great idea! 1-tick delay seems wise. Item sink aswell.

For disintegrate spell, thoughts on removing the 5 rock cap but the spell takes longer to cast depending on the amount of rocks in invent? I'm not suggesting a crazy amount of time (maybe xp/h could cap at 115kish), but I feel like there is a balance we could reach where we still retain the "power skilling" meta but this could be useful as a way to learn how to do the methods with a little side reward(the smithing xp) or a more mellow alternative to dropping like you're suggesting. For what it's worth, in regards to not feeling like xp is enough of a reward.. I think in a grind base gamed such as OSRS when it comes to skilling, xp should be the highest priority reward when it comes to effort. If we were to suddenly add some sort of gp reward as well then the max rate should take at least a 10% xp/h hit imo. I don't believe there's any problem with this. If someone is quitting over being mad about 117k/h with gp and not being able to get 130k/h with gp that's an unreasonable expectation imo.

Add the ability to superheat granite for no resource return but gain smithing xp. Add rewards to desert diary to allow superheat to destroy multiple granite at a time, so maybe 3 for med, 6 for hard, and 9 for elite. Drop scape is so 07.

Sounds a lot more like what the lunar spell book is all about than anything else. Super glass make, making bowstrings, tan hides, disintegrate. Edit, they could also potentially just shift humidify into a position to degrade x amount of granite In your inventory

I can drop my entire inventory in like 5 seconds, and I suspect other people can do it in like 3 seconds. Casting a spell 5 times would take like 10-15 seconds depending on how many ticks it takes to cast. If that spell existed, it should probably disintegrate like 10 items at a time for it to be worth the runes while at the same time not de-incentivizing those who can drop an inventory in 3-5 seconds. Basically, it'd be like paying GP to save your hands from carpal tunnel.

Just curious what happens if you start the 4t cycle with an addy pickaxe and then switch to a dragon pickaxe when you go to mine? Does it give even further increased chance? Furthermore what if you just have the dragon pickaxe in your invent but you wield the addy pickaxe? AFAIK the game chooses the best pickaxe you have when you try to mine something

Pickaxe does not affect the chance of mining rocks, unlike axes which do affect the chance of chopping logs. Only your mining level affects your mining roll chance. I don't know if the game would choose the dragon pickaxe if you had it in your inventory, but if it did this method would not work since you would not be starting a 4-tick cycle when clicking on a rock.

Any level works. I’m using varrock body which gives 10% extra ore, max cape which gives 10% extra ore, and charged celestial ring which gives 10% extra ore.

RS3 has a lunar spell called telekinetic grind that instantly crushes a whole inventory of anything that can be broken down with a pestle and mortar. Maybe osrs could get this for the few herblore secondaries and also granite? Even if it just broke the granite down into a stackable useless dust it would feel a lot better than constantly dropping so much.

You'd need to find a spot for it. Since you need to start mining before moving, you'd need to always have an adjacent mining node (either sandstone or granite) within 2 tiles of a sandstone node, in an area where there are 3 sandstone nodes you can repeatedly mine in cycle like this. It's possible there is one but I haven't personally looked to see where it could be done since this is a relatively new/novel idea.
