It was in Chennai in 1997.But Saqlain Sir said that Anwar Sir was frustrated to see the match slipping away.But Pak won the match by more than 30 runs. Pak scored 327 & India came close to 300. Dravid Sir scored a 100 but that was not enough. Aquib Sir conceded 61 runs but took 5 wickets. He seemed to reserve his best vs us. Remember his 7/37 in Sharjah final in 1991 Oct? Anwar Sir also scored a fluent 48 off 32 balls against India in Bangalore in 1996 quarter final but after the opening stand of 84 runs in 10 overs the batting suddenly collapsed & Pak lost by 39 runs. Perhaps that loss haunted the entire team & they waited to seek revenge!

Sir, thank you for telling some unknown facts about the great stylish lefty Sir Syed Anwar. He was not as attacking as Jayasuriya or Gilchrist but in tests he was more durable than the two against any attack.
