To be honest, saeed anwar was a class apart. He was way ahead of his time in terms of the way he used to pace his innings. His impeccable timing and effortlessly stylish strokeplay was specific to him and only him. He would hit huge sixes by merely a flick of his wrists. He never appeared rash while scoring runs. Looked so smooth on the eyes and was a real treat to watch when he was in full flow. It's unfortunate that he lost his daughter and could never get back to his lethal best. Eventually he was forced to retire after a very poor show by the Pakistan team at the 2003 world cup, after which legends like him, waqar younis and wasim akram were sacked by the PCB. Sorry state of affairs of Pakistan cricket. Cricket was never the same for me after saeed anwar's retirement.

hv fond memries of the 90's ind pak matchs- dstructive anwar nd sohail wud open, ijaz, inzy nd salem malik to folow, furious wasim nd waqar, aqib runin in with bucket style hair blowing, saqlain and mushtaq ahmed spining, india openin with flamboyant sachin nd dashin ganguly, the eversocool rahul and wristy azhar wud usually steady the ship and jadeja wud blast away at the end.. the not so effective pace of srinath nd prasad, nd the match saving spin of kumble.. cricket isn't the same anemore :(
