I think SAFA misspoke, saying that the bike can do whatever a hardtail MTB can handle. I think he meant, HE can handle (on the Addict Gravel) whatever a MTBer can handle on a hardtail. 🤪

I would crash with that handlebar for sure. If it is used on such terain why not put a flat bar on it (or something dual purpose, if there is such a thing) ? I mean drop bars are probably very good, but I do not think they are good for rough terrain.

Promising setup! I unfortunately can't afford to get a gravel bike like that but my Trek Checkpoint ALR 5 is quite good too, I will try to get the most out of it by getting perhaps the same tyres and having a pro bike fit for it to make it more racey in the near future. Also have you ever heard anyone finishing off a video by saying thanks to the film crew (a one man film crew in this case) for carrying the camera and backpack? What a gentleman Safa is!

I ordered this bike as soon as I found out of its existence about a year ago, very few have made it to the US but the wait was well worth it. Rode it stock for the first time this holiday weekend, with no customizations like yours, in the Big Bear area, lots of dirt roads to ride there. The bike handles really well, I am a XC mountain biker and I'm used to Epic Sworks bikes, and this gravel bike can go faster on those dirt roads. On the Skyline trail type of terrain, the Epic wins, but the gravel bike is not really intended to be best at that stuff. I like the idea of changing the original tires for something similar to yours for more fun in the downhills and more rocky stuff.

I come from hardtail MTB and the mindset of enjoying going anywhere I can as comfortably as can and finding my limit of speed comes second after comfort. But I'm extremely interested in trying road and gravel bikes for the all out lightness and speed, but the sad fact is we don't have smooth appropriate infrastructure here to suit them, no road shoulders, pot holes everywhere, no smooth trails or gravel, it's all big and bigger chunky rocky back roads and cliffy rooty trails. Yet... seeing gravel rides like this shredding still gives me the bug to want to try one. However I've heard some people talk about putting gravel groupsets on cross country bikes and doing well in races, I'm highly curious about trying that!

@SAFABrian
@SAFABrian 2 жыл бұрын
You have to get comfortable with the wheels moving around underneath you. On road that's almoat always a straight to hitting ground problem. Off road the wheels will slide here and there a bit and you need to trust they will bite again or the bike will correct itself. You can practice this by trying to make the wheels lose traction by turning too sharp. Knowing you're trying to make them slide you can have a foot ready to dab and it doesn't have to be at high speed. Just a lot of practice/play.

Just bought the Addict Gravel Tuned frame to build it up, but how the heck you managed to put 45mm tire in the back with classic AXS FD...? This inspired me to ride the backbone on my gravel (lauf) and I gotta say that trail sucks! It’s covered in weeds and brush on half the trail where you can’t see anything in n front of you. Notice that part of the ride isn’t in the video. It would be an amazing trail if it was cleared properly. Do riders like this trail? P.s. what tire pressure are u running and do u like the 50/45 over your typical 38/38 setup?
@SAFABrian
@SAFABrian 2 жыл бұрын
I think it's one of the most fun trails around, gets bushy this time of year and it's hard to see. That's part of the fun and riding the trail year round and seeing how it changes is all part of the beauty of riding this area. That section of the backbone trail is 6 miles long and the loop we rode that day was 40. We can't film every minute of the ride. As stated I prefer the widest tyres I can fit up front and similar in the back, 50/45 is my typical setup. I run them around 30 psi.
@mtsmithtube
@mtsmithtube 2 жыл бұрын
@@SAFABrian I will have to try a new tire setup then. I've been running 38/38 at 55 psi which makes a trail like the backbone too sketchy to be fun but for everything else its fine.
