My first Safariland rig was an all leather Sam Brown rig with a thumb break holster in 1974. I carried a S&W Mdl 19 and 18 rounds of ammo. That was high tech in those days. Now I am using a similar Safariland holster with a G-Code universal adapter for their RTI system.

My question is do you recommend this over just ALS? Im kinda in the air about the secondary hood/strap over the gun (Dont run RDS currently but maybe "someday") ALS seems simpler to use over the thumbstrap though.
@douglasmilburn38753 жыл бұрын
Defeating the sls will actually place your thumb right in position to defeat the als. They’re fairly similar in ease of use but you obviously get more retention with them combined. If you decide to go als, they also make a lock for it which makes it level 2. I have no experience with it though.
@DrFrankenschtein3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the vid James! Your minuteman videos and training classes brought me to Safariland. Good stuff. I recently started using their QLS system - total game changer there. I don't know what I was doing before. lol Anyway, thanks again!
@maxroberts91583 жыл бұрын
Ironic that you posted this, I have a Safariland in my cart, preparing to order it, and just happened to pull up the KZbin app first. 🤣 Going back and forth between purely an ALS holster or an ALS/SLS. Is the combo ALS/SLS worth the extra money over just the ALS? It will be going on a war belt for civ/minuteman use.
@douglasmilburn38753 жыл бұрын
Not sure if he will respond to your answer or not, I’ll give you one though if you’d like. If you’re using it for the stated purpose, go sls/als. The draw is very natural with both as defeating the SLS will drop your thumb in place for the ALS. You might loose 0.1 seconds on the flat range but will gain a level of retention and assurance in the field.
@brendondickerson95633 жыл бұрын
I run the Als with the Als guard. The Al's guard still protects your Al's, but it's easier to manipulate than the sls. Just want to make it clear, the Al's guard is not the same thing as the hood guard. You can look it up on safariland, and install it on your als only holster at any time.
