Been eyeing these for a few years now but could never find any videos or reviews besides the company's. Good to see someone else review it (even if they did get it for free).

Nicely done, thorough review! What a great concept - wish we had thought of it first! This brand of jack is definitely on our short list of future purchases! (We have bottle and hi-lift jacks - really like that Safe Jack has come out with this off-road focused product.)

Love the robustness of the product, but just a tip for any jack. Verify that it fits and is operable when the tire is fully FLAT. Stuff gets a lot closer to the ground! :)

Haha. We changed a tire that was flat in Mexico and had no issues, but good point that folks need to check to make sure. 😆👍

Another reason to also keep your stock oem bottle jack around as well. While it might not be tall enough to lift the wheel from a lifted truck it might be tall enough to lift the frame, axle, diff up enough for you to get the Safe Jack underneath. Sucks to carry two bottle jacks around but depending on the setup you might have to.

Great jack, recently had to change a tire and dreaded using the bottle jack that came with the truck. This looks like the perfect solution.

Great review, I’m considering one of these for my FJ40 which is very short on storage space. I just want to be able to change a tire and hi-lifts seem like a big PITA for that. Thanks!

Thanks man.... I've got an "in-the-works" Adventure Van... a 2018 Fort Transit 250 HR EXT RWD. Not an ideal off road vehicle for many reasons, but we are taking it to all sorts of places where, if we flat out, we are... hosed. Gravel and dirt etc. and winter travel in NH would make the standard bottle jack is just cringy. I've been looking at these and was on the fence. Not after watching this. Their sponsorship of y'all's trip was a good investment on their part... I'm in. SAfe travels.

Last thing any one needs is the rig falling off the jack, like that plate and the bracket for the axle a lot.

Very interesting product, thanks for putting this on my radar. In regards to eliminating the hi-lift, do you carry another solution to a backup hand-operated winch?
@DirtSunrise
@DirtSunrise 5 жыл бұрын
Exactly. We've sat and watched someone try and change a tire with a high lift and after seeing it fall off and the handle go flying etc we just offer to lend them a normal jack again. They are useful for sure, but I just don't feel the need for one. We've done the tire strap winch a few times at expo, but it's dangerous on IFS and the driver/spotter has to be on point to keep the strap on the tire. It constantly wants to fall off. Cheers!

I've never actually used my Hi-Lift to lift the vehicle off road. Most of the time I use it to push the Jeep, or something else out of the Jeep's way, or to assist getting off of something that has the Jeep high centered. It's a simple versatile tool that can be used for way more than Just lifting a vehicle. I've seen some guys use the standard to replace parts on trucks, or as anchors for winching when theres nothing around.

@@DirtSunrise I've been keeping my eye out for deals on those. No dice. I like the lcp one because it's made for the factory Toyota bottle jack and nests with it, so I always have at least something non sketchy to use

Is there any advantage that the metal baseplate has over the ubiquitous big orange plastic square baseplates that are frequently purchased with high-lifts? I already own that thick plastic base plate. I’m trying to figure if purchasing the metal sled baseplate shown in this video would be worth while for use with a smart jack. Application would be in sand dunes, rocky dried out river beds, and lava fields with sharp rocks. Great content by the way! Seems you avoid overlap of content with other channels and provide some really useful info I haven’t seen elsewhere.
@DirtSunrise
@DirtSunrise 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. The main advantage seems to be that the baseplate is attached to the highlight so it can't flop while under load. The wires help it be safer. Otherwise I'd check with SafeJacks own videos to see if there are other advantages. For us, the baseplate is nice because almost all maintenance we do is off-road so the base keeps the bottle jack stable and from sinking. Carrying a piece of plywood works too, but the SafeJack one is nice because it attaches to the jack. Cheers,

DirtSunrise That rear suspension looks badass. Trailing arms/Traction Bars with coil springs. I never knew from the factory they came that way. Are the newer ones even better made? I know they stopped make no them for a while then started again but not sure if they're available in the U.S.
@DirtSunrise
@DirtSunrise 4 жыл бұрын
@@Mr.Beastforpresident The solid axle, Coil Sprung, trailing arm front and rear were only on the "80 Series." It ran from 1991 to 1997 in the USA. No other Land Cruiser has the wheel travel of an 80. After the 80 the Land Cruiser went to Independent Front Suspension in the USA. In other countries you can still get the 70 series which is a cool looking truck, but it's just leaf springs in the rear.

DirtSunrise How is sway Controlled on the 80's series? Have any trouble with trailing arm bushings? How does the 80 Series rear suspension differ from a 5 Link coil suspension like on a late model Dodge 2500?
@DirtSunrise
@DirtSunrise 4 жыл бұрын
@@Mr.Beastforpresident Sway bars front and rear, but I run just a front and let the rear articulate up obstacles. Bushings on the trailing arm and every other link of the suspension were typical old school Toyota and lasted 25 years. Just bought a set of rear link bushings in Bolivia from a Toyota dealer and pressed them in. Not familiar with the newer Dodges.
