We have been pleased with ours due to the amount of touring we do. It has worked out cheaper and less payload. We have found you do have no check for stations that let you fill up. You can see your gas level too,which helps massively. Recommend Safefill to anyone who tours regularly as you will save money over a period of a few years. 👍

Some good points here Phil. We have considered buying one but so far since we got our first van 3 seasons ago we haven't bought any gas. We were lucky first van had nearly full bottle in. Then second main van we had also had half a bottle in. My thing is that it's 30 quid I think to fill an older bottle up so it's 6 bottles in order to break even probably 7. I do like the idea of them though, maybe if we use the gas BBQ this year.
@lostweekendscaravan4 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul. Yes it is about 6.5 bottles to get back the money. But as I have found with my home BBQ you start with a nice clean one and then its replaced by a dirty greasy one (not nice). With the Safefill it is yours and yours to look after. Just a thought. Thanks Phil🙂👍

Hi Phil thanks for the video as my posts on twitter and Facebook groups we did make the move to safefill last month saying that I haven’t filled the bottle yet as we still have a 13kg calor bottle to use once that’s empty we will return the bottles back to get partial refund on the deposits one three years and the another two years I had quite a lot of feed back when I was researching positive and negatives plus a twitter post advised me of a 20% discount code on eBay it was a major caravan dealers online shop so we made the purchase 😁😁

HI Dave. I am glad you have took the plunge. We have been very pleased with ours. I am glad you got a discount as I said they are not the cheapest things to buy. We agree with just about everything that Phil says in the video. We have had ours coming up to 10 years and that is the only problem. Ours has a sticker on it that says NEXT INSPECTION 2022. Fine except they don't and won't test or inspect the cylinder and you have to buy a new one. So do check the Next Inspection date sticker when you buy one. In the technical of their web site it stays that they will test the cylinder but they won't. On the same page it says that whilst the normal testing interval 10 years In some countries 15 years is allowed. Take care Boggie

Thanks for the update re the safefill. I was aware of the test after 10 years but was not aware that they will not do it. I suppose if you work out the cost of the bottle and the money saved then 10 years is not that bad?. Thanks for watching. Phil🙂👍

Finally had a chance to use the bottle and a wheeled pigtail,. I was a bit concerned at filling for the first time so asked an assistant at the garage to show me how to connect which he had no problem in doing. Well it is simple when you know how, it cost me £9.36 to fill a 7.5kg bottle from a BP garage. fitting the wheeled pigtail was simple and now do not need a spanner to change over bottles :-). It works out £18 cheaper per bottle (and is larger 7.5kg not 6kg calor) each time, so will take me a couple of years to break even at my current use.

Hi Steve. No they don't have to be empty, this makes them even more worth while owning. At the start of the video it was 1/4 full but at the conclusion I had topped it up at the cost of £4.62 which is a lot cheaper than replacing a steel one. Worth thinking about. Cheers Phil🙂👍

I bought one via Amazon a few weeks ago, Amazon we’re doing a special deal , £35 off the list price. I used to use 2 x 3.9kg bottles. When one ran out I bout another for £18. With the safefill bottle I now have twice as much gas as one 3.9kg bottle at the same weight as one 3.9kg bottle. No need for 2 bottles as you mentioned you can shine a torch into the bottle to see how much gas you have.

lost weekends caravan I half filled mine for under £7 like you’re supposed to do in the first fill. It was kinda embarrassing paying by credit card. It was the weight that really swung me & the fact Amazon had the discount. Modern vans have a useless payload of 155kg unless you have a twin axle.

Nice one Phil, we did the same and purchased the ‘big one’ when the 7.5kg one would probably have been more sensible. Although, at the time, it was only the 10kg that was available when I bought it. The 10kg one is difficult to get in and out of the Coachman gas locker, which is a nuisance, but heyho, we work with what we’ve got now! I have since also just purchased the 5kg one, as a just-in-case back up when we are touring Europe... 👍🏻 😉 It is worth pointinmg out that the safety cut-off when you are re-filling stops at around the 80% full point... 🤔 I have also fitted the Gas Stop safety valve feature, which seems to offer additional safeguards agianst leaky gas systems... 🤷🏼♂️ Thanks again matey, cheers, Rog... 👍🏻 😉 🐍

Hi David. I think the safefill for use has been worth buying. Thanks Phil🙂👍
@ukinfamous4 жыл бұрын
Had mine for a year now, wouldn't be without it. Initial cost for 10kg Safefill was £141.99 via eBay and their 20% code, 6kg Propane new bottle contract with Calor is £39.99 so a difference of £102 6kg refill round here is £23.45 which works out to £3.91 per kilo IF you get 6kg of gas in the refill! LPG at the local Morrison's pump is £0.57 per litre * 1.96L per kilo = £1.17 , a huge £2.74 per kilo more expensive to buy via Calor After 38 kilo your bottle is paid for, after that you're in profit! or 49 kilo if you buy the bottle at full wack. If you already own a 6kg propane bottle and can't take this expense in to account then you need to add around 15 kilo to the previous figures. Bottom line is, if you go through more than 1 x 6kg gas a year then you would be in profit buying a Safefill bottle based on the bottles 10 year life span, after which it needs retested but Safefill are not saying that will be economical to do so in 10 years times.
