I really wanted to love this product. Built like a tank, nice design, probably one of the best in class. Unfortunately, it is also one of the most user unfriendly products I’ve ever had. Considering so many products don’t even come with a user’s manual these days, the lack of intuitiveness is staggering. Our other car seat is part of a Chicco travel system, and it is a breeze to set up and use compared to the Clek. We’re still keeping it because it is a good product but I wouldn’t recommend it to brand new parents-to-be.

Once you've installed it once or twice, it's very easy to manage! I think Clek has better manuals than many other manufacturers do in fact! They have additional help on their website too

Just a correction that the latches can be used up to 40lbs not 25. Would be helpful to have info on which recline position to use rear-facing. I find the lines on the side so confusing
@safeintheseatАй бұрын
For the US version, the lower anchors can only be used until 25 pounds in the rear-facing mode. You must be in Canada. There are 2 lines on the side of the seat. One is for children under 22 pounds and the other is for children who are above 22 pounds. Whichever line is relevant to your child should be level with the ground.

Taking my 13-month-old, who weighs 20 lbs, on his first flight in a couple of days. His car seat is the Clek Foonf. I would like to install it in a rear facing position on the plane. It seems that this may be impossible due to seat space. Since he has no issues sitting up on his own, could I simply install it in recline position 1 to reduce the overall width from the front to back of the seat? I'm concerned he will be hitting the passenger's seat in front of him. I could also take off the rear facing base and anti-rebound bar to decrease the width. The other option would be to install in the front facing position. Unfortunately, both of these options violate the Foonf manual. It says for rear-facing to be in position 2 or 3 with base and ARB. For front facing with a lap belt, you must also use an anchor tether (which is not on a plane). Not sure what to do at this point. The manual does not provide specific installation requirements on an airplane. It only says to install on airplane in same manner as you would in a car.

For rear-facing, even on a plane, Clek requires the use of the base and anti-rebound bar. If you have an economy seat, this is not going to fit. I would recommend taking a different car seat: safeintheseat.com/13-best-car-seats-for-airplane-travel/

Just to clarify. My 🚗 manual says that car seats have to be flat on the seat. Not hanging off or up in the back. Even though this particular car seat allows up to 20%, I would not be able to use it because my car doesn't allow that, correct? When installing car seats, you are to install them based off of your car seat manual and your car manual, but your car manual overrides the car seat manual, correct?
@safeintheseat Жыл бұрын
You have to read both manuals and adhere to the rules of both. I've never seen a vehicle that didn't allow overhang, but if your manual says that, then you must follow what it says.
@micaelawedge Жыл бұрын
@@safeintheseat I was figuring that. I wouldn't be able to use it.

@@safeintheseat Yep, the Volkswagen beetle doesn't like it. This child I babysit for that now sits in a booster seat, was sitting forward-facing when I started. The family had a Graco seat. It hung over a little bit and was up in the back a little bit. I let the parents know about all of this. They made the decision not to get me a different seat. I moved the base to the booster setting. That didn't solve the problem, but it lessened it.

Check your vehicle owner's manual. It may say that nothing should touch the back of the seat due to possible airbag interference. Otherwise, lightly touching is fine.

Clek website don’t talk about the last step.. with the crossing overtop. Is that when the latch can’t be used? When my husband installs the seat as intended - it’s unmovable solid as rock. I’ve just never seen this from official Clek

Is the qtether for rear facing necessary beyond a certain weight?
@safeintheseat Жыл бұрын
The q-tether is optional. It's just an added safety feature. It works in the same way a load leg does. It absorbs more of the crash forces

Got a clerk foonf for my 4th child because it looked like the best choice. I regret it. Having lived through 3 kids in car seats the contrast is stark. Yes it's beautiful and safe but that's where the positives end. It is not user friendly, changing the straps as the kid grows, getting the base set up with the rear bar thing, installing the thing in my car. Heaven help you if you need to swap the seat into a different car! No. It's not worth it. I regret the purchase.
