1:30 This video shows why resellers should NEVER allow people to return electronics as ripping a display port cable apart because you didn't push in the pins is just one of countless mistakes a newbie might make and then blame it on the product which in turns gets resold and fries someones motherboard taking out other components with it.

Thanks for watching and for your question. You don't have to press it. When inserting the cable you might be able to feel or hear a click (hooks snapping in place). Only press the button before actually pulling on the cable.

Dude, that is a really tuff situation to be in. If the lever is broken, there's not much you can do, but dig thru the actual cord itself... and really try NOT to damage any part of the display's port. Best wishes!

That is quite a pickle you are in... Honestly, I would just ignore that port and use another one. But if you really have no choice but fix it... then you might have to disassemble the ports plate... or carefully take apart the cable (since the cable is already broken) and pull it out small pieces at a time. Be careful! Hope everything works out for you.

It might not be clearly visible, but it should be there. Try pressing down on both sides (squishing) of the port.

😱 if the hook is broken and really stuck... I would recommend you to use another port, but if you don't have another port available. In that case I would either sacrifice the cord and cut thru it till you reach the port and careful remove it. Or if you are brave enough, try removing the port plate off the gpu and remove the stuck cord that way. Hope you can remove it safely.

Oh no, just keep wiggling while pressing down. If all else fails... you might have to destroy the cable using pliers by carefully tearing the cable in pieces until you are able to pull it off safely. It is better to destroy a cheap cable than RUIN an expensive GPU or Monitor. I wish you the best!

I had a similar problem. The cable snapped and only the metal connector part was sticking out of the GPU with the locking mechanism intact. I used the two intact halves of the plastic housing to make a sandwich with the metal connector in the middle and use the button normally. The halves snapped back together in the process and I got the metal out.
