Hi Saffy and others! As a Norwegian man who has traveled all over Norway 🇳🇴 I can wholeheartedly say that Norway is a special place on earth. It’s fjords and mountains makes it truly special. We have a lot of wildlife, nature, and mostly good roads with a few exceptions here and there. Ferries are common especially on the west coast down south, but also some further north. In general if you hit a farm animal or other wild animals you are obligated to report this to the police. There might be fines, depending on what you hit, but most important is the welfare of the animal. They will arrange for people to checkout if there is any problem if the animal escaped even though it might be severely hurt. Most favorite places in Norway is many, but here are some of them. West coast has many of them, but also inland areas have some good places; Lofoten, Stryn, Trollstigen, Atlanterhavsveien/Atlantic road and many more. Cities or villages; 3 big ones is Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim. But also Tromsø, Røros, Ålesund. Glad to see you enjoyed your stay despite some various weather conditions and an accident. Weather may vary a lot depending on locations. North is beautiful both during winter and summer with northern lights and all day sunlight. Everybody be safe and travel with no trace of trash preferably. Take care and enjoy 👍🏼

On my visit I learned that the tunnels are awful. I also learned that there is almost always a road over the mountain the tunnel goes through,. and if you look on the map you can spot it. Taking those roads instead gave me some of the most insane vistas on the entire trip. Also, of course - it rains. A lot. There's basically no shot of riding weeks in Norway without rain gear.

Tunnels are both good and bad. Some of them exists because of the risk of avalanches and rock slides. Some because the mountain roads literally are impossible to use in certain weathers or during the winter. Some of them *significantly* shorten your journey time... And honestly, some of them are pretty nice. But they're definitely more enjoyable in a car then on a bike...

Love the hair dryer in the boots , bring back hand dryers with swivel nozzles of old , use to to stick them up the inside of my motorcycle jacket in the old days to get warm again hee hee 🤪🤣🤣

So, great video and pictures - you've definitely got a lovely style delivering a deal of great info. I'd add for anyone going long tours and trying to keep costs down :- use gmaps about 100 miiles from being empty to source a cheap fuel station just off motorway junctions. Second tip, Denmark and Norway provide sleeping areas with facilities for free. They're basic but great fun so Denmark look out for shelterplads and Norway Rastplasse on the map. No one bats and eye at you putting up a tent.and some even have sleeping shelters. Third and final point. Take out motorcycle breakdown insurance. Get it for a year and it lets you go pretty much anywhere for 90 days. If you get injured, break a rib maybe, you get you and your bike recovered home.

I’m an expat living, working and riding in Norway. I agree that some of the best riding roads are south. If you do only have 3 weeks for your trip you don’t need to travel north of Alesund. South of this is full of fjords and mountains plus many of the tourist landmarks like Pulpit Rock, Kjerag etc. I’ve been living in Bergen and Stavanger for over 10 years and still haven’t felt the need to go to the Artic Circle.

Speeding in Norway comes with a fixed penalty and not a percentage of your income. Prices vary from around £100 to £1500 GBP, depending on your speed and the limit on the road in question. And if you are way over the limit, you might also lose your license, and even get jailtime.

It's raindeer, not deer here in Europe. We have a totally different animal that's the actual deer. There's a number of small errors like that in the video. The Sami hasn't had a tribal organization for a long, long time for instance and is a people, just like Norwegians are.

Great video, but some misinformation. Fines are fixed price. In order to get a fine you as a person need to be identified (not the vehicle). Therefore cameras will not fine you. Get a SafeDrive device to get warnings about police and road obstacles. Saamis don't own all wild animals. The reindeer they actually own is more or less domesticated, and that's why you see them. Hitting one of them will cost you though. They are located from Trøndelag and north, but also some rare ones in the southern region. You will never see real wild reindeer though, unless you're a good hunter. The wild reindeer lives in the southern part of Norway.

Hi, very nice video! I agree on most of them tips. Travelling in Norway takes time, especially at tourist traps in the summer months. I experienced that last summer in Lofoten myself. Fantastic place, but way too crowdy for my liking. So avoid tourist traps in the summer months. Find your own secret place, there are lots of hidden treasures in Norway, and lots of fun back roads. Avoid the motorways, that's where the police and the heavy traffic are. And drive carefully! Keep up the good work!

Did the Nordkapp trip in 2010, but in a car. 5000 miles in 2 weeks with a mixture of camping and hotels. Hope to repeat it next year on my bike, but as I'm old and crotchety now will probably just use hotels!

Somewhat correct about the barren areas up north - if you choose to stay on the main road😂 lots to see and do, especially in Lofoten. And three weeks is doable, as you say, but I spent three weeks to Nordkapp, via Sweden, and I live close to Oslo 😂 but like you said, south is where it's at. I've solo traveled the south every year since 2015, not done yet

It is probably not entirely true that everything above the Arctic Circle is uninteresting. The Lofoten Islands are known for their beauty. I would recommend going there by boat from Bodø.

I've never been yet, but I'm due to go on a cruise up around the fjords in July. We're spending a week on one of those massive cruise ships. One thing we found quite quickly is that the excursions organised by the cruise company charge an exorbitant markup. Like, there's a trip to a chocolate factory in Stavanger that costs £50 each via the cruise company, or £14 if you organise it yourself.

Technically it is Raindeer / not normal deer / that the Sami people have claim to. You don\t run over either of them / you run into them... and from there the result is uncertain. As stated the clue is to inform the police to ensure they track and take care of the animal / and of course check up on yourself in terms of damage, injurres etc..

Ferry trips in Scotland are based on road distance costs by the Scot gov. So costs here are pegged too. But pre booking is much more likely to trip you up.

It's your fault legally :) There are always deer warning signs on the road, you really do need to practice your emergency stops! They literally run at vehicles

I did Nordkapp in 2 weeks from Manchester - 16days (it was all the time I had). It was an epic trip, but also an endurance test. Up Sweden back via Denmark, both stunning countries for different reasons. Need to plan another trip to Norway as there is so much to see. Norwegian here: The Saami people own only the reindeer, not "Bambi". Sidenote, the reindeer are also incredibly stupid and unpredicable - the moose is actually intelligent in comparison. The one thing they have in common is being blinded and dumbfounded by headlights - but the moose is at least to me is to some extent readable (body language), but the reindeer can do anything at any effin' time.

Obviously you haven't been to Lofoten or Senja etc if you advise to turn around at the arctic circle. There are no rear-facing speed cameras in norway, and fines are not based on your income. Also wild camping is restricted to only one night per place.
