I totally agree with you! After Hurrem Sultan Safiya Sultan was the most powerful. But they didn't focus only on her reign. Actually if they would've shown it in a sequence that would've been much better like After Hurrem Nurbano & then Safiya & then Kosem Sultan at the end but Turhan Sultan as well because with her death the most magnificent era of Sultanat-e-women in the Ottoman Empire came to an end. But they didn't plan that they just focuses on the main Sultanas like Hurrem & Kosem.

I think there are many untold memories from Safiye Sultan when she comeback to Harem, not only those luxury things but also the memory of her young era, all her life that spent in Harem that this series can't show to us. So Sad to have a great Valide Sultan end like this, but she is so wise even she defeat, she realise she has to relieved and officially give the authority to support her successor, explain how to become good and ambitious Valide Sultan for the dynasty. Kosem was hiding in a cupboard and they dragged her outside and strangled her. Some say they did so with her own hair. She was not like a real padisah, she was only a regent. Monarch and regent are two different things. Kosem did good deeds in regards to charity but she was not a very capable leader. Anatolian warlords were constantly seizing Ottoman lands, corruption was happening everywhere, the treasury had become weakened. Murad IV took away Kosem's regency because of these factors and and ultimately brought prosperity to the empire. And they didn't hate Turhan at all, in fact Turhan was very much loved by the population. We have several records of how much they praised her works. When she died, they said 'Alas, the strongest support of the state is gone'. I've written a paper on the Sultanate of Women for my class, and Kosem is extremely overrated and was not at all how the show depicted her as being this absolute monarchist; she was not.

Alot of people are having disagreements on who is the "strongest". That's like saying someone was more beautiful than the other. It's not a black and white thing. Some can be stronger in a negative way and some on a positive way, but the negative are those who act as a coward. As humans we have strengths and weaknesses. Where we draw our strength from is how it shapes us and the path we lead.. Kosem loved so much she never admitted defeat not because she was afraid of failure but because it was not an option. Her strength was those she loved and did not waiver against the odds. She always believed in wanting the best for the dynasty because she saw how Ahmed loved it. She was honest, kind, and loving and forgiving even towards Osman to the end. She never wanted her sons to be at odds and through and through her strength was clearly her children. All of them. I can't speak on Hurrem because I haven't watched her story yet.

What a depressing time and place to live, everyone becoming so treacherous that they eventually had no choice but to kill themselves because of all the burden that was on their minds at the time for all of the inequities they had committed to perpetuate their personal agendas that was their sole objective. Kosem and Safiya were both the same in trying to perpetuate their personal agendas, Safiya knew that and that was the reason she passed on the ring to Kosem. Committing suicide is not dying with grace, but grace is to accept your death when it comes to you naturally (natural causes or being punished for your crimes).
