Safran at MADEX 2023: Optronic, navigation and decoy launching systems for ROK Navy

Overview of the Safran Electronics & Defense booth at MADEX 2023 in South Korea. The French Defense electronics company was showcasing its entire range of systems for modern navies such as the Republic of Korea (ROK) Navy, which is an existing user of several Safran naval systems:
- Optronic masts for submarines
- Navigation systems for surface ships and submarines
- EO/IR systems for surface ships
- New generation decoy launching systems
According to Franck Bonny, Sales Manager, Naval Key Accounts Defense Division at Safran, the company is present in Korea for more than 50 years. The ROK Navy is an existing user of the Dagaie decoy launching system, the SIGMA 40 inertial navigation system and the new surveillance optronic mast aboard the KSS III submarines.

Glad to know the newest PASEO XLR will be used both the Philippine Navy New Corvettes and Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV), which isn't surprising since the Jose Rizal-class also used Safaran PASEO NS.

Having been assigned to three different forward deployed bases for the US Army a lot of those systems could be utilized in perimeter defense as well as hard structure defense. The surveillance systems especially the small infrared detector "Vampir" and the light boat system could be mast mounted for perimeter security options on bases with low to high treat postures and be monitored by the guard force guarding the walls and linked into a "TOC".

Safran and other vendors already have a lot of land-based EO systems. Probably cheaper than the maritime environment hardened naval systems.

Fortunately the OPVs got the XLR. Would've been far better if dagaie was also included, but other brands will do. Bad news if its the same fixed launchers
