Safranbolu seems to be my fav place so far. I don't know much about Turkey, but I know they have a rich history and when you look at the buildings, you can see the history of prominent eras built into its structures.

Very true the country is rich with history from multiple kingdoms that have called the region of Anatolia home. Fascinating to explore all the different cities 😯

Tarhana soup: Tarhana powder is prepared by mixing plain yogurt, flour, and grated vegetables like red pepper, tomato, and onion into a thick paste that is left to ferment for several days. The paste is then divided up, dried, and crumbled to make tarhana powder.

I love the cavern-like cafe. Nice little coffee stop. And also the Viaduct is quite the Masterpiece, as much of the architectural structures there are. 👍 My knees would be a bit wobbly if I were to walk on it, being that high up (and no rails).

Aqueducts are awesome pieces of architecture from the Romans, it truly makes us travel through history when we see one. That is a fantastic view in the middle of nature. So, memorable! Coffee does not keep me up at all, I can have a coffee and go right to sleep, no problem. Lieles though doesn't like coffee at all. Cool to know about the taxi. It is information that we always wonder about, especially in places where you can't just stop a taxi in the street. What a delicious combination of dishes you have there Peter. All seem delish!

You're lucky Maria! Must have taken some training to get it like this right? But I just can't.. the effect of caffeine is just too strong on my system. Even the Turkish black tea keeps me up usually on those nights I'll only sleep 4 hours or so. If you guys make it to safranbolu let us know 😁 keen to hear about your adventures from there

Finally up to date with your videos and yeah you have done a wonderful job on doing these videos! Yeah I find those ancient structures and indeed how they would have been built with archaic technology quite incredible! So lucky to see and adventure on the aquaduct! Perhaps lack of technology back then! Hey if the coffee is strong, then I'm in! Wow Peter trying the coffee, ok he won't sleep for a week now! Haha! Wow lucky you got to walk on the aquaduct too - almost walking on water there! Yup, you will always find that good food! I always thought the area the water runs down on an aqueduct would be deeper... really cool you guys got to do that...Surprised Yen's nerd alert didn't go off when you got to the barbed wire door to the aqueduct... maybe it was muted since other culprits had already were walking on it😁. Gary 🐌🐌🐌😂😂 Definitely moving at a snail's pace😆. Looked like another amazing day with amazing sites (cave cafe looked super cool) and food (though sounds like Yen was still congested going into that day).. Peter's grape leaves with the dollop of tomato sauce looked yum! Upcoming Cappadocia vid looks like it's going to be a cool one...atv's?? Can't wait!

Hahahaha it did for a second 🚨 but yea there were so many people that crossed it during the day that i figured it was safe enough 🤣 Gary like in SpongeBob 🤣🐌 i was stuffy for a couple of days unfortunately! Now that we're back in Istanbul I'm a lil paranoid we'll get affected by all the smoke again before we head home to NZ but hopefully we'll do better at avoiding it this time round (but Istanbul is particularly difficult coz it's so densely populated too) 😅 and yes! Safranbolu is indeed a very peaceful place with a lot of charm and people being so nice, a nice experience. Being a coffee drinker, cave café with (a) sand heated Turkish coffee ☕, (b) the cup - special and (c) barista dude, nice, a must if I travel that way. The green, lovely countryside and it has come through the video so well. Separately, get well soon Yen unless it’s hay fever 🫣 Dropped by Fo Guang Buddhist Temple and One Tree Hill today, a decent afternoon. Yesterday’s dinner was nice at Landing Restaurant (The Riverhead) 😋

İt was all such a great experience and especially the cave coffee experience and walking across the aqueduct! 😁 Thanks LH! The one downside we've found with Turkey is that the smoking culture is so strong here that we frequently got caught in second hand smoke clouds and can't avoid them sometimes! Got a bit wasted by it before we got to Safranbolu.. must've been a shock to the system 😅 thankfully it's not so bad in other parts of Turkey. Sounds like you're having a lovely time in Auckland despite the winter weather 👍👍 Hope you're getting some sunny days to enjoy too! 🙂 Where to next?

Tarhana soup is a natural instant soup. It is a mixed and dried version of many things such as yoghurt and tomatoes, which someone has shared below. It is mixed directly with cold water and prepared in 15 minutes. The best part is that the tarhana powder you buy preserves its form for at least 5 6 years.
