I'll be honest and admit that I once in that condition against a Ra player. It's not that I didn't read, but I read probably too hastily (only checked for negate, destroy and quick effects) and missed the crucial part lol. I even checked the GY and the banished before doing anything.

had a more or less same situation, but in my case it was his own fault, he activated dark ruler no more, forced me to banish my kairyushin with sea stealth, make a big hitter board, cleared my monsters but forgot he can't do any damage, end phase kairyushin came back and wipe his board (except 1)

There are two things you need to keep in mind when playing this game: Always carefully read your opponent’s cards, and always carefully consider the order in which you play your own. Had the opponent played Lightning Storm after Raigeki and Triple Tactics Talent, he would’ve destroyed The True Sun God, and his OTK strategy would’ve gone off without a hitch.
