Tbh, seeing just a straight-up good duel like this kinda just cements that while it’s “the current meta threat”…Despia is at least relatively healthy, and not completely unfun to play against. They don’t take 20 years for a turn, they don’t prevent you from playing the game (although can discourage it), and their recovery allows for some excellent back-and-forths. That’s better than the typical “spend 20 minutes setting up a 7 negate board that also locks down your opponent, alongside having 3 handtraps” of previous meta decks.

Branded despia I think gets way too much hate. An engine that gives consistency to so many decks with a very good boss monster that’s actually outable. And a fun deck too.

Dark Magician deck is wayyyy harder to beat than branded. Once they set the circle and continuos trap you dead unless you draw feather. 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I play DM and ngl. That scenario is few and far in between. You would need to have the perfect starting hand, have no interruptions, and THEN you pop off. For Branded, they pop off with one card. In short, “IF DM pops off. It’s debilitating. WHEN Branded pops off, that’s just it.”

Not for normal decks. They easily deal with eternal soul or circle and it's done. But, despia, as strong as it is against monsters, is usually weak against spell traps. Skill drain for example, destroys their decks most of the time.
