SYNOPSIS
From Emmy Award-winning writer/producers Dan Goor and Michael Schur ("Parks and Recreation"), and starring Emmy Award winners Andy Samberg ("Saturday Night Live") and Andre Braugher ("Men of a Certain Age," "Homicide: Life on the Street"), BROOKLYN NINE-NINE is an ensemble comedy about what happens when a talented, but carefree, detective and his diverse group of colleagues get a new captain with a lot to prove.

Boyle became so much more likable when he stopped pining over Rosa. It was clearly never going to happen, and his constant flirting was just painting him as the Creepy Loser character. Now that he’s simply friends with her, he may still be the Loser character, but he’s a lot more likable.

If you think about it, though - it's a lot like her character. Her and Holt are very similar on the show (and it looks like in real life, too). And in this interview, Capt. Holt doesn't really say much or anything Capt. Holt wouldn't say (like the hot tub story). The difference is that if Capt. Holt got asked the questions that Melissa got asked, he might just give 1 or 2 sentence answers like he does in the interview, I think Melissa just tries harder to answer the questions even if she doesn't really have much more to add. She seems like more of a classic actor vs. a specifically comedic one. You can tell the specific comedy actors that are naturally funny are like Jake, Chelsea, Charles somewhat, Terry. Plus, I don't think the interviewer did that good of a job with some of the questions he asked that would allow them to open up, he kinda said "so talk about this..." instead of actually asking a question. If you watch their Paley Center Interview they seem more relaxed because the interviewer and questions are better and they're literally known for interviewing all the big actors/casts from TV shows and such.

That is really what makes them great: the contrast between classic actors and comedians, they just mix up so well, specially this group of people. They have such an amazing chemistry. And your comment about Melissa and Andre just couldn't be more accurate; I also think that's their biggest similitud with their characters, but their seriousness and awkwardness is what makes them funny and charismatic.
