Sagano Romantic Train | Kyoto Autumn Colors | Day View

The Sagano Scenic Railway runs near the Hozugawa River. During the months of March and April, boughs of pink cherry blossoms sway above the passing train. In November and December, the trail is lined with flaming orange and red autumn leaves. The railway traverses seven kilometers, and the trip takes about 25 minutes one way as the train winds slowly through the mountains.
The Sagano Scenic Railway travels through the Arashiyama mountains. The train itself is of a nostalgic style, complete with wooden bench seats. It features one fully open car and four enclosed cars with the option of opening your personal window. After making a single trip on the Sagano Scenic Railway, you can choose from a number of exciting options for your return trip. Take a short bus ride from Kameoka Torokko station, the terminal train station to the docks of the Hozugawa River. Then, you can take the Hozugawa River cruise on your way back to Kyoto. A single ticket for the cruise costs ¥4100. Your final stop will be again Arashiyama, just outside of Kyoto.

I just checked your channel, if perhaps in the future you'd do Osaka food recommendation other than Dotonbori area, would be much appreciated. It's really rare to find food options on youtube both from people who lives in Japan or visitor/tourist other than Dotonburi. Dotonburi is a nice place, but I believe Osaka has other area with their authentic local dishes. Keep up the good work 😊

With regards to your question, depending on which part of April you are visiting, the Sagano Romantic Train offers scenic views during both the Sakura season (usually end of March to 1st week of April) and autum season (mid Nov to mid Dec). With regards to your question, yes, you can buy another ticket and get on the train again to get you back to where you started. As to the boat ride, as far as I know, the Hozugawa River Boat Ride (Hozugawa Kudari) has been temporarily suspended since 31 March 2023. But in case they resume their operations, the boarding area is about an 8-minute walk from JR Kameoka Station. I hope I was able to help you. Although both sides are open and offer great views, you can take better pictures and videos from that side. Hi! Thank you for watching my video! I rode the Sagano Romantic Train last 3 Dec 2022. It was ok during my daytime ride - I was just wearing a jacket. But during my night time ride, it was already a bit cold, especially that I was in the rich car with no windows. I saw a few people wearing winter jackets and even gloves, so you might want to consider bringing them too. I hope I was able to help you. Just bring a printout of the email confirmation to a JR office when you arrive in Japan and they will give you the actual tickets. Alternatively, you can also buy tickets at the train station just before riding, but depending on the season, there is a big chance that tickets for the rich car are not available anymore. Hi Cecilia! Thank you for watching my video and for visiting my channel. With regards to your query, the whole Sagano Romantic Train ride, which consists of 4 stations, takes 23mins and cost JPY880. If you wish to take the Sagano train for only one station, that is Saga Torokko to Arashiyama Torokko (bamboo forest station), it would only take 3mins but the cost will still be JPY880.
