My first indie game to premiere at SAGE is at 3:59! There's a lot of cool combat you can find in Scouter that just those 2 seconds didn't show you. It seems like a lot of games got way shorter screen time compared to last year, though. Shorter overall video, but may be an overcorrection from last year's.

To preface, this isnt gonna be me going all "sega hire this man" But what big game companies need to actually do is when they find these big fangames with a huge hype base, wait until they're almost finished, then contact the devs and say "hey, we'll cover distribution costs on your chosen platform if you let us sell your game and keep an X% chunk of the profits" that way they're still technically protecting their IP rights while encouraging the community to be creative while also not falling into the trap that the Fazbear Fanverse did with its members getting into drama, not understanding the premise, or just *not delivering*

Techpack collection looks really interesting. It seems to be a love letter to Namco styled arcade games. I'd love to try it out. RoboGAL is a classic styled Mega Man game with a really nice aesthetic. There's also of course some big projects that everyone is familiar with like Sonic Rush 3D, Project Reignition, Sonic Battle R. There's also quite a few fighting games and a few Jet Set Radio inspired ones. Nova's Adventure seems to be taking inspiration from Kirby games, so that's probably gonna be a fun time. And of course there are the Tails Adventures game (that seems to be a sequel) and Ashura the Glitch which is another metroidvania Sonic game made by the same person who made AS2R (Another Sonic 2 Remake) Overall, a lot of great projects and there's probably an outrageous number I'm missing out, simply because I can't fit all of them in my head. First off, I already know this and SHC are great as always. The passion and talent on display with these projects will endlessly astound and inspire me. But more and more and I wonder, how will people have time to play these games every year?! It makes me a bit sad to think about, especially regarding the last few years (maybe some other Sonic fans are like this too) where I largely missed out on playing anything, the one big concerning byproduct of event growth and just being on this busy planet. Do you just pick a few games you're specifically interested in, and end up tuning the rest out? This is kinda overwhelming, and I genuinely want to give these projects the attention they surely deserve! I mean, besides being a streamer, there's prob not enough opportunities in one's life to play too many of these.. I'm sure a lot are great quality though. I have so many games to already play that I've PAID for that I struggle to consistently return to or pick up -- which is a good problem to have, in a way. Maybe I just need to slow things down, and wait and see if someone can curate & review this later in a way where it'll be sorted to be more catered towards particular interests

So at each year's sage expo, i usually download all the games for the first few days of the Sage expo and just play those when I'll have free time to do so. If I haven't played all the Sage expo games from last year, I usually skip the older demos and play the new ones if a sage expo game is back next year or so. A lot of people do have school/university or work so I have the same problem but at least I keep them downloaded on a hard drive till I'll finally have some free time to play them. I do usually check all of them by the way (just at my own pace though).

And yeah, you gotta keep up with the latest demos because sometimes they're building upon works from previous showcases. I remember doing that for the Sonic Hacking Contest for some of the past few years but often I end up getting preoccupied by other things in life unfortunately 🤷‍♂️

@@PigDan thanks! Yeah you can download hacking contest entries on a hard drive as well. As long as you have the storage, this is probably the best way to play all entries eventually. I don't mind downloading each game one by one but would be nice to have an option to download all of the entries for the sage expo in a package as an option ngl.
