My project is Sonic: Heroes Origins at 4:15 - its basically like Sonic Origins, but for the games and characters that Sega always ignore - like Retro Engine style remakes of the Master System titles, Chaotix, etc. And yeah, I play Nights all the time trying to beat my runs! I've been playing it since getting a Saturn in '97 and it blew me away. Literally every year since then I complete Christmas Nights in Decemeber and unlock all the presents as a tradition.

10:30 is actually "Choujin Sentai Jetman" Recognised the logo from the NES game, which has a fabulous soundtrack by Hiroyuki Iwatsuki. Why we're getting a fangame for a 1991/1992 Sentai series I don't know, but colour me intrigued.

Pizza Tower was at Sage in 2017 and look at the success that it is now. Sage is in pretty good terms with Sega so it is mostly knowed for showing Sonic related project in the past but now is way more diversified.

8:55 Yes! We are in fact back! To address the elephant in the room, the project was canned in early 2021 due to having lost interest in it. But around 2022, i wanted to go back and see if i could redo it the way i intended the project to be. Hope that clears up the confusion around it and with that, look out for the full release of Key Hunters DX!

Oh mate I really loved the look of your game the second it came up in the live. Your spritework is wonderful, I love the HUD design and the environments and colour/lighting design are fabulous! This September is the 20th anniversary of when I released Sonic: Time Attacked at SAGE - or Nack the Weasel Amateur Games Expo (NtWAGE) - as it was that year. I also liked your Klik&Play Sonic fangame with scrolling. It's never too late to come back, I created my previous fan-game in 2007, and now returned with new demo of Sonic 3: Chronicles (10:20) after 16 years of not making fan-games. ​@sonic-templeos I've submitted a Sonic game this year! 😀Sonic Heroes Origins ( 4:15 ) - its a demo (very substantial one) that will be 100% finished for SAGE '24 after feedback, feature requests etc from this year. I'd love to one day make a Nights fangame too - though I'd want to always use my own custom 3d engines rather than Unreal/Unity to accurate recreate the look and feel of true 90s 3D, so that would be a lot of work - its definitely possible though because I'm starting to build such an engine to be able to make 32bit style 3d special stages for my Sonic stuff, including replecating the Chaotix special stage.

Oh dude I absolutely LOVED the look of your game, such a fun concept and the graphics are really nice! I actually really like Origins, in that I love the retro Engine remakes, and Amy is my favourite character so playing as her in the original Megadrive games is wonderful - though of course as fans there are things that we would change, bugs we'd fix, and features, characters and even games that we thought were missing - my biggest complaints with Origins Plus was it didn't include the Master System games, Chaotix, or the 16bit Spinoffs... so I thought why not make my own Origins with the "missing" content... and make it a "Heroes" journey so all the characters can get in on the action. 😅

@@RealZerenaFan Thanks so much! It will definitely be there - and I'll be at my booth responding to comments / questions plus uploading new KZbin videos every day during the event. As its a collectoin, don't expect every game to be fully finished, its a work in progress but I'll be working on it every day up to the event to get as much in there as possible, its already significantly better than what was showed in the video and there are many mroe levels and games. My main priority is getting it as polished as possible, I want this to be an ongoing project, the ultimate tribute to classic Sonic, going back and every year updating adding new games, characters, features etc that people request.

Bubble Bobble is one of my favourite games of all time (I even owned an arcade cab at one point!) and I grinned from ear to ear when Bub left the level and went outside in 3d - you've done an incredible job! @@americaonline3835 There was 158 games in this trailer, including 40 Sonic ones, so thats still a huge amount. For me personally, I really like SAGE as a way to find quality indie games that will appeal to people who are into retro games. Also, as an indie dev myself, in the coming years I'll totally submit my commercial games when they are ready, as well as my Sonic fan games each year - I know that classic Sonic fans will be the exact target market of people who'll enjoy them - because I'm a classic Sonic fan and that's what inspires me 😄 This year though, its my first SAGE ever and I "just" made a Sonic fangame - 4:15 Sonic Heroes Origins 🥰

​​@@americaonline3835 Nah, SAGE has usually always allowed some non-Sonic games in the expo. Difference is that now the indies are at the forefront rather than just some bonus stuff. And honestly, the change is for the better; It allows SAGE to grow and expand. It gets kinda repetitive only seeing Sonic fangames since a majority of them are 2D or 3D demos. And besides there's still the Sonic Hacking Contest so no need to worry.

ahem, first of all 40 Sonic games out of 158 fangames is not a good amount, and if we seperate all the 2D fan games and the Unreal Engine slop, this is even less, well anyway.. what i mean by "generic", is that eventually it will probably become another general indie game show than one for Sonic games only, something like F3 but more bearable, and without it's charm and to be honest? i'm not excited to play any of the games shown, older indie games hooked me in more, like Super Meat Boy and Castle Crashers for example, what makes them great is their simplicity and fun factor, i'm not gonna play a pixelart meta humor platformer with a nono on violence targeted at speedrunner croud, Super Meat Boy, at it's core, is simple, since you only have dpad/arrow keys and both a run and jump button, and it uses the simplicity in it's core design to make really hard and interesting level design, something that i don't really see in the new indie games, hell, i'd even call some of them slops, but i'm gonna go offtopic with this, but yeah, i'm just concerned for SAGE. TLDR: SAGE should either feature more Sonic games, or more general SEGA stuff, to iron out the lack of Sonic games, also, 2D fangame creators should get more original as they're starving a bit

I already downloaded and tried your game a while ago from seeing it in the previous trailer and I've gotta say I was absolutely FLOORED with the quality. I try not to keep many games on my work / dev PC to stop me getting distracted by playing, but I've kept the demo in a special folder I keep as inspirarion for games with the exact level of quality that I aspire to reach one day with my own projects. Its incredible. Reminds me very much of Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, which is no bad thing, as that's also in my inspiration folder! ;) When it's finished I will 100% be buying your game and savouring every minute of it. (I made a game too btw, its at 4:15 - first time on Sage, eek!)

I've been making Sonic fan games for fun since I was a kid in the 90s and this is the first time I've felt brave enough to publish something publically - but I'm basically making my "dream" Sonic game as a fan since the jump, and (I think!) I know what kind of stuff long time fans will appreciate 😀 It will definitely be an ongoing project over the years adding games, features, moves, characters etc that people request. Anyway, I didn't intend to make this all about my own project - your game truly stood out to me. Its one of a handful I rememerbered from watching the premiere live and rewound to find it and write down the name so I will remember to try it. I used to be an animator (I trained with Don Bluth for 2 years) and your art style really, really grabbed my attention, its gorgeous!
