Sage Business Cloud - Accounting: Creating a Sales Order

Does creating a sales order draw from inventory? For example, we create sales orders to keep inventory up-to-date and avoid overselling, because invoices are dated day of delivery, not date of order, with net 30 terms. Thanks!
