Thank you for responding. Is there a standard distance from panel in determining the full fan size amoung manufacturers? For the Walcom 360 Carbonic HTE Clear gun please spray UHS clear coat as someone said it could not be used for that purpose. How much paint does it use comparatively. Is it that a very large fan spray gun requires one to spray further away from the panel as the fan may be uneven at closer distances? Another, is the quality of the full fan with the control wide open. Thanks again for your informative great videos. Thanks again.

Hi buddy, there are recommended distances from manufacturers, which are for example 175mm to 225mm but each manufacturer will recommend different distances and different guns from the same manufacturers will have different distances so nothing is set in stone. The rule of hand was often used as a distance marker, but we all have different size hands, so it's only a guide, if you are unsure, look at the manufacturers chart as a place to start, you may find closer or further is better for you and it depends what you are doing at the time. The size of the fan is not completely related to the amount of material going out, it depends a lot more on the tip size and the air cap, for example the DV1s has a wide fan but doesn't put out that much material so it's quite slow compared to an Sri Pro Lite which has a smaller pattern. I only has HS clear not UHS so cant test the Carbonio with it but it is recommended for MS, HS and UHS so i see no reason why it can't, cheers 👍

Hi Mate, Very impressed, I managed to get the gun in the video that came with 3 needles/tips and 3 caps, I've used the DVR Clear and the Aqua caps and really liked them both, it's my first Sagola and I'm left wondering why i didn't try them before, highly recommended, haven't tried the Titania cap yet which is supposed to be a good all rounder but I'm sure it won't disappoint👍

Greetings Pete and many thanks for yet another great review; May I suggest the Sagola MiniXtreme as a future review, had mine for a couple of months and find it to be on par with LPH-80, Sata mini and SRI if not a little better. Looking forward to your upcoming videos as always.

Hi Tamir, yes, the Mini Xtreme is on my list to get, I've heard really good things about them which you are confirming, they are quite expensive in the UK but I'm hoping to go to Spain soon and will pick one up over there as the are much cheaper, thanks for the comments, take care 👍

I notice that you adjust your inlet air pressure with air flowing through the gun , I normally adjust the pressure with no air flow to 35-40 psi , can you give us details of how you do it and the pressure you use ?
@peteshobbies5383
@peteshobbies5383 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Brad, it depends on the gun but on both of these it's around 2bar or 29psi, this is as you say with the air but not the fluid going through the gun, by doing it this way you know the pressure flowing through the gun, if you adjust the pressure without going through the gun you are only measuring the pressure build up not the running pressure which will be lower, therefore you could have 40psi at the inlet but as soon as you pull the trigger it could drop to 20psi, it depends on the gun and the aircap, true HVLP will lower the pressure more than others simply because they flow a lot of air
@mikecrawford5331
@mikecrawford5331 2 жыл бұрын
Exactly you need to know the running flow pressure and not the static pressure.

Hey Pete, just saw your settings on the dv1 and it seems a little too high. Have you tried doing base at 24-26psi and drop coat at between 18-22psi? I remember one of your videos stating that when you do drop coats it makes the metallics look coarser. If that the case then your drop coats are landing and drying too fast not being able to settle properly. Anyways try it out you'll see some differences.
@peteshobbies5383
@peteshobbies5383 3 жыл бұрын
Ok buddy, I'll give it a try with lover pressure, I use a lower pressure on my Sata HVLP with good effect so will try the DV1, yes, normally a drop coat makes the metallic particles stand up a little which is something i didn't want, obviously it depends on the size of the particles but it certainly been the case
@casperchea7865
@casperchea7865 3 жыл бұрын
@@peteshobbies5383 if it's standing up too high to the point where it looks like it's coarse, lighter and seems sparkling if that makes sense then it's going on too dry or its drying too quickly that the metallic flakes havent had enough time to lay down properly. You need to move fast enough that it doesn't go on too wet and pressure low enough that it the paints not blotchy. It's kinda hard to explain but you have play around with your settings and distances. Drop coat should not change the colour much if at all it just gets everything nice and even without patchiness or mottling.
@peteshobbies5383
@peteshobbies5383 3 жыл бұрын
Don't normally get any problems with it looking lighter or any other problem to be fair but it is courser to the touch, it doesn't look any different but you are aware, normally because I'm applying fine line tape that it just feels slightly courser, if it was just base and clear you wouldn't know it was courser as your not touching it, it's just you are touching it when your applying tape so notice it, it never bleeds under the tape so we are not talking rough and of course when the clear is over it you don't notice anything anyway so it more the feel than the look if that make sense
@casperchea7865
@casperchea7865 3 жыл бұрын
I get what your saying now, all good then, I assumed you you meant coarse in how it looks. I remember when I first started painting high metallic silvers and everytime I did a drop coat it would change the way the the metallic looked on the face of the panel instead of laying down it would be standing up alot where it would sparkle when the light hits it. Turned out being pressure was too high and the paint was didn't have enough time to lay down. This was solvent by the way. With some water base paints you don't even need to drop the pressure for the drop coat but you basically do the drop coat immediately after your first coat no flashoff needed. I'm sure you seen some painters on you tube doing the 1 and a half coat water base jobs.

hi pete. maybe my question is too late. however, i'm really curious about this aqua dvr cap. is this aqua dvr cap only for water based paint. or can this cap be used for solvent paint. will the result be good and flat on solvent paint? I hope you will reply to my question, Pete. By the way, I'm your new subscriber from Indonesia. I really like your video about spray gun. it seems you are honest in judging a spray gun product. because there are many people out there who make dishonest reviews, they only prioritize paying for endorsements. thanks a lot Pete. I hope you are always in good health.

Hi Aryansyah, thanks for your kind words, much appreciated, greetings from the UK to you in Indonesia 👍, The Aqua cap is just as happy spraying solvent based materials, in fact solvent is what i use most of the time. You'll find many manufacturers say there products are for WB products but i haven't found one yet that doesn't spray solvent just as well, you just spray the two types of paint slightly differently, so yes, if you are thinking of a Sagola the Aqua cap is great for solvent. they are a very good gun although they are getting expensive in some parts of the world now, not sure of prices in Indonesia but I'm sure you are

@@peteshobbies5383 thanks a lot Pete for the answer. I didn't think you'd want to reply to a comment on a video you've been posting for a long time. I want to ask you a few more things to convince me to buy this DVR Cap Aqua. According to your experience, is this Aqua DVR Cap better than Titania DVR Cap for painting solid and metallic colors? Once again I thank you very much Pete.

@@aryansyahklanregars3180 The Titania cap is a great all round cap so if i had to have only one i would chose that, if it's purely for base coat i would go with the Aqua cap but there is very little in it, both are good 👍

Great video Pete. So much like you I love spray guns and I would love to have them all but I can only have so many. I currently have the LS400, WS400, Prolite and the kiwami4. Id love to add to my arsenal but I’m torn as to what. Can you make a recommendation? I use solvent based paint.

The Iwata Kiwami4 BA4J is a faster gun than the WS given the tip sizes are the same, if you feel they are slow then the Sagola 4600 in 1.3 or 1.3xl with Titania cap is probably the one i would go for, or, if you can still find one, the Trophy Truck version which has the Titania Pro cap. The Sata is good but no faster than the Kiwami4 and not better than the Sagola
