Excellent advice Tony. My wife and I are in Spain now after making the trip from Australia. We planned our trip off your advice and it has been excellent. We have done the La Rioja and Aragon road trips along with Madrid and Barcelona. Sagrada Familia was fantastic. We start the Pueblos Blancos Road trip tomorrow from Sevilla. Thank you once again for making our trip so enjoyable with food and sight tips. I shall comment on the individual videos for each road trip when I return home. Thank you Tony, your videos help us for our trip through Lisbon, Madrid and now Barcelona. Just for everyone information, we couldn't get ticket at the date and time we want on the official website but we were able to buy it at the tourist office, we used the one located on the perimeter of plaza Catalunya. This office also sell tickets for other attractions. Please note that they have senior rate as well for many attractions.

Thank you, Tony! Your videos have been extremely helpful for our trip planning. We'll be buying the guided tour + tower tickets. I'm torn on if I should book the first tour of the day at 9:15 for fewer crowds or the last tour at 16:00 when the sun is lower and the stained glass is at it's prettiest. We will be visiting in mid April when sunset is @ 20:30. I've seen a few comments that the glass is very pretty in the early morning sun, too. Will we wait a lot longer to go up in the tower later in the day vs morning? I'd appreciate any advice you can offer! Thanks again.

Hi April, you can do all the planning you want, but in the end, it's really up to the skies, if it's a cloudy day, no beautiful effects on the windows. Early morning has its advantages, as you point out, less tourists and nice light effects. Early afternoon should have more visitors inside the temple. Impossible to tell about the elevator to the towers, it's all down to the number of visitors on that specific day. All the best.

Good Morning Mr. Galvez. Really liked your video. I have tried to buy tickets through the Sagrada Familia official website with different credit cards and all have been denied. I even call the credit card. Do you happen to know why I'm having problems?

Hi Andrea, the problem is caused by the authentication system used by the Sagrada Familia and many other websites in Europe. You need a credit card that has 2 factor identification, which is not common among foreign cards.

It's an interesting part of the temple but if you haven't got the time or don't want to spend the money, you can skip it. If you go, the Nativity Tower is the only one built when Gaudí was still alive.

It can be done, but as you need to book your tickets for both places with a time slot, you will need to leave ample space between both visits.

I never understand why people buy tickets not from the place they are going to directly when this is an option. I highly recommend the tour guide included ticket, the extra cost is so little.

We don't have a problem buying tickets through resellers when their price is exactly the same (sometimes on a place like Visit Barcelona Tickets you are able to buy tickets for several different attractions in one go). The problem is when the resellers overcharge you.

The Sagrada website requires a credit card that supports authentication at the time of purchase. None of my cards supported that. I had no choice but to buy from a third party and had to pay a big markup for my troubles.

Double factor authentication is becoming a standard in Europe. It is a shame is forcing people to use dishonest sites. You can buy the Sagrada Familia tickets in Barcelona at Tourist Offices, they charge you a small amount of money for the trouble. But you risk not finding a time slot for your visit.

You need a credit card that has 2 factor identification. I spent 2 frustrating days trying to buy tickets with Mastercard, Visa, Capital One, Chase, Bank of America - all were denied. USA credit cards do not offer 2FID on purchases. But as fate would have it, a last resort, my Wells Fargo bank card processed quickly and purchase was completed. Wells Fargo bank card has 2FID. 😊

The official website and phone app were not working to purchase tickets when I visited Barcelona. I used the website Tiqets to purchase my tickets. Fortunately, I was able to visit the Sagrada Familia, and the price wasn't too bad. As Tony recommends always, purchase your tickets in advance :)
