2005's Sahara was a movie with a tremendous budget, tons of talent and a famous author behind its premise. Unfortunately, the movie was met with poor reviews and was a gigantic box office bomb. It rendered the franchise dead in the water almost off the getgo and killed Matthew McConaughey's dreams of Dirk Pitt becoming the next James Bond. Today, Pop Tot and I sit down to review Sahara for the first ever Lost and Found Movie Tot edition. Here, we give our thoughts, some analysis, some funny remarks and dig through the sand to figure out why this was a gigantic failure.
Sahara synopsis - Master explorer Dirk Pitt goes on the adventure of a lifetime of seeking out a lost Civil War battleship known as the "Ship of Death" in the deserts of West Africa while helping a WHO doctor being hounded by a ruthless dictator.
Directed by: Breck Eisner
Starring: Matthew McConaughey, Penelope Cruz, Steve Zahn, Lennie James

In the book the iron clad and the gold are incidental Dirk and Al are tracing a chemical spill that threatens to kill all life in the ocean, They find it when they escape from the toxic waste disposal facility also there is no gold it had been stolen a hundred years ago by desert raiders. My other problem with this movie in the books Dirk is not a treasure hunter he Works for NUMA which is an oceanographic research organisation he's an engineer and trouble shooter. If Dirk is looking for a treasure it is to ensure it is put in a museum and preserved.

I feel like this movie is decent It's just a bit long I feel like maybe certain elements of the story could have been cut and the movie shortened a little bit. And there's no way an ironclad could have made it across the Atlantic so I feel like it would have been more believable if it had been like a proper sailing ship
