HII ok as a senior in a california pretty large n diverse public hs let me talk abt my perspective on modern hs culture: 1. i wouldnt say kpop is like cool? but ppl def are more accepting/care less abt what u listen to like during events its pretty normal for newjeans to come up after like a drake song 2. the food thing is also def less of an issue at least from what ik, like maybe some people r self conscious but BECAUSE our school is so diverse (like a 75% asian population) nobody really gives a shit. also cus we are allowed to leave campus nobody really brings lunch anyways idk. 3. bullying is still a problem, just kind of twisted up i think. like nowadays most "bullying" are forms of passive aggressiveness, subtle teasing, and DEFINITELY a lot of like cyberbullying on social media. its more hidden now in terms where people aren't as open and direct about it, and nobodys really scared of a certain popular group like those hs movies, but there is definitely a lot of harassment basically, hs is still pretty shitty. HOPE THIS HELPS!

Im 28 now, and idk maybe i got lucky but in high school Anime & KPOP WAS A THING lol. It may have not been like super super popular but I had no problems talking about it. I would talk to my friends on it all the time wed share kpop songs and animes we are watching. Your toxic friend points just hit sooo right at home!! I wish i got this advice when I was younger. I had friend issues too. Certain friends became clicky or purposely try to ignore you and steal others away from talking or being near you. I felt lost at that time. But knowing what I know now that i didnt back then...dont be afraid to leave friends or friend groups because even when you do others will come around that are meant for you!! And youll realize what real friends are!!
