Alhamdulliah i come from an orthodox muslim background once i got older I probably only practiced it for a year until I came across a hadith which the literal translation of had me tossing and turning at night. I searched and searched everywhere for an explanation until I came across Ibn Hajar asqalani’s book Fath al bari, which had a beautiful, thoughtful explanation. It was then I realized that the literalists were off the plot, and that my bibliophile nature had me searching for more and more books from the classical scholars. I realized islam was a religion for the well read, alhamdulliah.
