My dad made me run on the track in meadowbank Edinburgh to get aoita autograph,I was 7 years old I was scared ,I had to chase him on his lap of honour he was too fast,the crowd cheered for him to turn around he did i got his autograph ,the picture was in the paper the next day,My dad was so proud

Don't forget the 10.000 meters (27:26) at the Bislett Games in 1986 and the 800 meters (1:43) He had tremendous versality. That is a hallmark of "Great" runners. Even Sebastian Coe and his father (coach) believed so.

As a Briton I thought Coe Ovett and Cram were world class athletes - and they were - but in the same decade we had Aouita, Morcelli and Guerrouj. It was a fantastic time to follow athletics.I don't want to argue over who was the best, I'm just grateful I saw these athletes at their absolute peak of perfection.

Football fans forget or simply don’t know that during the 70’s & 80’s no sport could compare to Track & Field (Athletics). My secondary school used to have us running every week and it was no coincidence that we held almost every world record and won almost every medal in major championships. I was a big Seb Coe fan myself but loved Said A. Apparently a train is named after him.

Интересно, что финишировавший в этом забеге вторым Мэйри ( 332.90) , буквально через пару дней едва не забрал у Ауиты его рекорд, показав 329.77. Видимо отрицательный график, который продемонстрировал марокканец ( 57.2; 153.8( 56.6); 249.4( 55.6) 329.46(40.1) ) , явно не подходит для Мэйри, ведь в Кельне он показал следующие секунды: 53.0; 150.8( 57.8); 247.7( 56.9)и 329.77( 42.0) причем за круг до финиша он показал , практически, тоже время что и Эль Герруж, во время рекордного забега ( 326.00). Ауита в своем рекордном забеге, пробежал последние 1100м за 2.32.5, Эль Герруж 231.0
