Very cool. That's interesting how it looks like Akira is trying to save Sayaka. Maybe her death causing all these nightmares have become so powerful that they've reached into reality and the only way to stop them is to save Sayaka in this nightmare but Akira looks like he's slowly transforming himself by being exposed to the nightmare for so long.

I've always been so passionate about openings, ever since I watched Black Clover a couple years ago. I'm always looking to see the creativity of the directors and what kind of animation the openings of new anime I watch will get. I think this is a really good one, the song choice is great and the choice to make it more of a...idk what to call it, a "freeze" kind of opening, was a really good choice. Reminds me of the Arcane opening. The audio mixing at the end is not the smoothest haha, I know from experience that trying to shorten songs into opening length can be tough sometimes, but its fun and feels so rewarding when it comes together. Overall this was really cool to see!

I have a theory. Not sure how accurate it is with the official lore, but feel free to discuss it and what you think of it. I think that the DID that sayaka/saiko has is the official diagnostics that she received, but, the actual reason for her dual personality is that the demon we broke out of the cage in the haloween edition is the one who corrupted sayaka's father and then, after he gave his daughter the bunny doll that was possesed by the demon, transfered its curse into sayaka, turning her into the saiko we see in game. Edit: i realised i forgot another detail that suggests that her DID might not be the actual reason behind her dual personality. In the intro of the main story, saiko refers to her evil personality as "he": "he will come out" and "you and him will not meet". If it was DID, i do not think that she would regard the other personality of hers as HE. I think elissu is someone that was cursed by the demon prior to sayaka and her father. My reasoning for this belief is that she is seen as more ruthless than saiko, and having less moments of non-hostility towards akira, showing less hesitation and less humanity than saiko. As elissu does not love akira, she did not have something to hold back the demon's influence over her, so she fell victim to its corruption. As we see that sayaka/saiko's love for akira keeps her good part still present in the game. Perhaps this is why elissu speaks and acts similar to saiko: maybe she views akira as her ticket to regain her humanity, while saiko, obviously, loves akira. Elissu was never spotted as a human in the game, but only once, briefly, in part 8 rain. As, in both games, we only see her in her yangire form The root of my theory lies in the tasks that the demon gives the player. And the fact that zombie sayaka represents sayaka's pure, original personality, but the hungry zombie sayaka represents her showing signs of the yangire personality.I think the tasks have strong symbolic meaning. The first one is to give the demon sayaka's heart, meaning, to give the demon the gateway to control her. Then we need to kill yui with the hammer, accustoming akira to the violence. As we see, after we do that, zombie sayaka is permanently hungry, meaning that the original, kind and loving sayaka, is buried underneath the hunger. Then we need to assemble her doll, the one that we see, in the background of other lore videos, becoming more red coloured, eventually having its eye glow red while sayaka draws a page for her diary and, when she falls asleep, her yangire mode appears briefly in her dream, scaring her. So, by assembling the doll and giving it to the demon, we allow it to posses the doll that, because of its proximity to both sayaka and her father, would allow the demon to affect them. Then, we need to burn the charms that hold the demon's true power in the cage. Then, we recieve that special rock with the demon's essence to take out elissu's doll and deliver it to the shrine. My guess for why the extra steps were needed and why elissu's doll looks much creepier than sayaka's doll is that, the demon got to affect elissu much more than sayaka, so the effects were more visible. After that, we see that the demon does not kill elissu, but hold her captive and pulls her in the shadow while akira steals her key to the cage, meaning that elissu was trying to hold the demon in that cage, and the demon trying to pull her into the shadow instead of killing her like the demon did with yui (either via proxy, making akira do it, or by doing it itself) is most likely because the demon wishes to control her, not kill her. Given that it is impossible to finish the game without completing the demon's tasks, the demon likely used akira's dream as an opportunity to trap him and force him to go through this ritual to free the demon. I initially did not know if the haloween edition is meant to be a sequel or a prequel to the main game, but, i think it is a prequel. Because, we see in part 8 rain, in the beginning, akira overslept, causing him to hurry up to meet with shinji. This alligns well with akira having this whole nightmare where he freed the demon, then, because of how long it took him to complete these trials, after he woke up, he got the call from shinji as we see in the end, then prepared to go to his friend as we see in part 8. I am hopeful about the future of the game. As akira is the only one that can actually put a stop to the demon's corruption. And possibly save sayaka, her dad and elissu from its clutches. As both akira and sayaka are stuck in a position where they love someone, but the other person does not love them back (sayaka loves akira, but he does not love her. Akira loves yui, but, from her interaction with akira when he gave her the umbrella, she looked like she wanted to leave as soon as possible, not a good indicator of loving akira back). So, i think this would he the absolute best ending: for akira and sayaka to get together, as we see akira care about sayaka in his interactions with her in the haloween edition. As for gameplay, i think this can be achieved similar to the different endings, where you can choose to either take the bad ending and run away, leaving the demon to fully destroy what good is left in sayaka, her father and elissu. Or he could choose to fight the demon to save them all, for the good ending. Lemme know if i missed anything or if i misunderstood some part of the lore. Any feedback, as long as it is constructive, is appreciated.

@@lillysparrow Maybe, but i doubt that people who have DID can also have one personality that can pretend to be another. In game, we see saiko's yangire state (the evil one) sometimes pretend to switch to the good side in order to trick the player to get close, either to hurt the player directly, or to trick the player into consuming poison disguised as medicine. And i doubt that, even if the personalities have a different gender, that they would have this deep knowledge of one another. I am not sure if the different personalities can really have different genders, we'll assume it is true, but i doubt that they would work like this.

You know it would be crazy if Saiko had a secret friend that nobody not even her Parents knew about, and if Akira (after the Nightmare he had) somehow went back in time before Saiko dies ( that's the theory i heard) then this old friend of hers comes back to see her again as a new transfer student like her. I was thinking It would be a new guy maybe with black hair and he would be kinda cold to strangers but kind to Saiko because he has had a hard past and even if she is shy she was kind to him, he would also be the type of guy to beat up bullys. I just thought this would be a cool new character that could take the crazy Saiko side because he has known her and knows about her Dad i just kinda feel bad because people need help even if they are crazy there needs to be someone who can deal with that crazy. Okay this was really long hope this series has a happy ending for the Characters.
