Nice and clear. I've been using West system on my four old Westerly sailing boats that I'm restoring - I'm no professional, it's my hobby. I haven't actually been doing anything wrong and your video confirms this.

Nice video, after its all done, do I need to cover the filler immediately of can I leave it exposed to sun and rain - until I gel/paint?

If gelcoat is the plan why wouldnt you leave the surface down a 1/16 and fill back with gel?

did you check the moisture levels in the hull first? what moisture levels can be in the hull before doing this?

target moisture content before epoxy is 0%.. But nothing is perfect in this world... Shoot for less than 3% if possible.

Does acetone affect the product?

I would clean the areas after sanding, before applying epoxy

Hi. I bought West System Epoxi and I have a question. I experienced now twice, that when pouring the Hardener into the Cup, the color of the Hardener looks very brown and rusty. Is that normal? I think that the can might get rusty in the bottom of the can. Does anyone know about this? It happende now 2 times to me and I put all in the garbage. But I will never buy West Epoxy, unless I get a good answer about it. I would love otherwise the product.

ROVER I just watched a video about this I think... some old guy who knew Gougeon Bros in 80s or so and said change of colour to brown is normal I think and doesn't affect integrity, in fact may be stronger? He was fixing a fibreglass keel in Florida in 2019 I think. it was a great video. of course brown doesn't help with colour matching on white I suppose, but maybe gelcoat would cover well?

It does this as it ages... According to West it doesn't change anything.

I agree with Sebastian. You are going to clean it again before the next step, right? Yes, you might bring some contaminants over as you work, but you are going to clean before the next step. Of course, this means you have to CLEAN before the next step.
